Super User MCS Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 I am really happy happy with our Super Bowl matchup. Two hard nosed team that are good at all phases of the game. Its gonna be a slug fest. Its going to be interesting to see the harbaugh brothers coaching against eachother the most important game of the season. And im glad to see Ray Lewis finish his career in the Super Bowl. Win or lose, ray has had a good ride. Also good to see Ed Reed get there, hes another future hall of famer. Thanks for mentioning, Ed reed is the forgotten man, he came after the Superbowl win when we blew out the lowly giants of New York 34-7. He deserves it more than Ray at this point. And this Super Bowl ain't gonna come as easy as the last one we won. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Good luck with that !!! I am going to do this for dad, Since the Colts left Baltimore I know he would have gone with the Ravens, I'm gonna say that the Ravens defense will put Brady on the ground more times than he has ever been before, they are going to make Brady rush his throws and he will be picked at least twice in the game, Ravens will dominate that game even though it stays close Ravens will win and go to the Superbowl and win that too.  Close enough LOL !!! Super User flyfisher Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Anyone else notice the cheap shot from Brady to Ed reed on his slide? I was yelling at the tv like I cared about either of the teams Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Tough picks for this week.... San Fran is giving 4 points and New England is giving 9 Â I am going to go with San Fran but not to cover and Baltimore to win outright. I was pretty close, since the line was 4 in the San Fran game Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Yeah, Ed has been just as important as Ray for several years now. He is incomparable as far as free safetys go. Hes a little older but Kapernick still needs to know where he is otherwise Ed is gonna be dancing in the Superdome. Ed and Haloti Ngata get forgotten about so often but those two men make that defense what it has been. It all start up front with Ngata and in the back end with Reed. Im glad to see those guys finally get there. Theres alot of unheralded guys on the Ravens team. Yea, i like a ravens fan, i do pull for them when im not pulling for my panthers. 2 Quote
The one that got away Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Great game by Baltimore tonight. Flacco was the man. Brady hasn't had back to back strong games in the playoffs since way back. Should be a good Super Bowl. I'm just glad Atlanta didn't get in because they would have gotten smoked by NE or Baltimore. Balt/SF should be a good hard hitting game. 2 Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 I was pretty close, since the line was 4 in the San Fran game  I should have stayed with the 9ers but I put a little too much faith in a secondary than I should have. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Both were good games. I mean if it wasn't for a turnover on the 1 and a missed field goal that Akers usually makes that game would have not been nearly as close. I am really looking forward to the Super Bowl. Two,good defenses and more smash mouth style offenses.....like the old days of the NFC east. 3 Quote

That what you get for doubting!!lol  And to think you still doubt come SuperBowl hahaah but here's to both teams Pulling for my 49ers but not hating on the Ravens 1 Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 I am far from a Shannon Sharpe fan (though I was a huge Sterling Sharpe fan), but he ripped into hoodie for refusing a post-game interview...I like it: Â http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/20/sharpe-rips-belichick-for-declining-post-game-interview/ Â Here's another: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/bill-belichick-stiffs-cbs-game-shannon-sharpe-rips-034609666--nfl.html Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Hats off to the Ravens and the 49ers for playing some of the best football in recent times I have ever seen.  Both games started slow for both champions, both champions never gave in and made the right adjustments while on the road and deserved the right to be called division champions.  For the first time we will see brothers as head coaches square off for the right to be called a superbowl champion....something tells me it won't be the last.  Good luck to the brothers and we cant wait to see what you have planned for the Superbowl......at least neither will have to endure the halftime show. 1 Quote
Super User South FLA Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Never say NEVER, man I am glad the Ravens won, Brady could have run for two or three first downs at the end and possibly made it interesting, but he was to chicken with Lewis there and caused "Belly Ache" to cry! LOVE IT 1 Quote
Quillback Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I pretty PO'd at the Patsies right now.  Thanks Wes for dropping a pass that was right in your chest, didn't you do that last year in the Super Bowl also? Bill Buckner has now been replaced by Wes Welker as the Boston choker. At least Buckner only choked once.  Thanks Aaron Hernandez for staying in bounds as time was running out in the 1st half, coulda just stepped out of bounds and stopped the clock, but for some inexplicable reason you turned into the middle and got tackled inbounds.  The Patsies played like boneheads, the Ravens played smart. Congrats to the Ravens for being the smarter team. 1 Quote

Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Even with the Very FEW mistakes made by the Pats, the Ravens made a ton more, Flacco was not anywhere close to being on target for a complete half !! Â Wes Welker did his job in my opinion, seven or eight catches for somewhere close to 140 yards, one dropped ball by him did not cost you the game, running time off the clock did not cost you the game, you were leading 13 to 7 at the half. Â What cost you the game was the lack of adjustments made by the Pats offense to offset the Baltimore defense, your running game was working pretty good and yet you did not allow enough of it to soften a tough Baltimore defense, Brady had to rush his throws for the second half and failed to be as accurate as he normally is. Â I myself would not put this one one or two players, they lost as a team, they were very well matched and just did not put it all together. Quote
Quillback Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Sorry, I disagree, Welker catches that pass, Patriots have in first and 10 at about the Raven 30, they probably get a least an FG, if not a TD, at that point they were leading 13-7. It was a game changing drop. Hernandez goes out of bounds instead of staying in, they would have had a couple of shots at the end zone at the end of the first half. Again a potential game changer.  It was in the hands of a couple of Pats players and they blew it. Quote

And Flacco sucked in the first half...... But you also have to admit adjusting at half time, excecuting on the plays they didn't in the first half , the ravens coming out in the second half and scoring two straight drives with Pollard ringing ridleys bell took the wind outta the pats sails. It wasn't just the pats blew it, the ravens came back out and played better the second half, if they played the first half that good the pats wouldn't have had a lead. Oh and while your mentioning the pats players blowing it lets not forget Mr. Brady can't go without any blame. The last two drives by brady when he got picked, it looked like he was like I gotta make a play, no where to go, throw it and hope my guy can make the play. That second pick was a crappy underthrown ball, if your gonna miss, miss high give llyod a chance to jump. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Answer me this then, out of all those trips to the red zone, how many of those trips turned into points? Â Are you really going to pick those two plays and single those out for game changers? Â I agree with you in the fact that those did have an impact on the game, but it's not what cost you the game. 1 Quote

Quillback Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 And yeah MCS, Brady did not have a good game at all. Quote
