Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 4, 2013 Super User Posted January 4, 2013 As big a Skins fan as I am too, these two are pretty evenly matched. There are two reasons I am going with the Skins this weekend. 1) We are at home, the long flight out and the work needed by the Seahawks I think will wear on them by the 4th quarter 2) Hasslett, his defesive stratigies with all the injuries that we have had has still out performed a lot of strong teams while using rookies, that says a lot for this team. If we do make it past this weekend, we have a long hard road ahead, we are 3 games away from the big show, if we continue to play like this we have a great shot at getting there, but they have to be after it, no mistakes !! GO SKINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

GO SKINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An interesting stat about the skins at home and seahawks on the road in the playoffs from Dan Grazianos NFCE blog: "The Redskins are 13-3 all-time in home playoff games. The Seahawks are 1-8 all-time in road playoff games and have lost eight in a row dating to 1983." Also, Haslett has done a great job covering up for injuries and shortcomings on defense, i remember calling for his head earlier this season, now id welcome him back. despite our yardage ranking, this defense has been opportunistic. We have to bring Rob Jackson back, im starting to think he is just as good as Orakpo, the guy makes a big play a week it seems. Ultimately here is what im hoping for. Skins beat Seattle, Vikes beat Packers, Skins beat 49ers, Vikes beat Falcons, Skins get NFC Championship game at home in FedEx field. But thats just me being optimistic and likely wont happen. Oh, one more thing, you have to love how the Skins have protected the football this year, i think we lost like 7 turnovers all year... 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 4, 2013 Super User Posted January 4, 2013 interesting topic to say the least........As far as the skins go they are a good team that is hot right now but so are the seahawks and as far as rushing goes they are almost identical. Offensively i call it a wash. Defensively the seahawks let up 15 points a game which is really the only defensive stat that even matters. I give a big edge the seahawks on defense for sure....those guys hit hard and could easily rattle a rookie QB. The skins have not had many turnovers i agree but that will even out. RG fumbles the ball alot but this year the balls bounced his way and i think he only lost 2 or 3 while fumbling 12-13 times total i believe. I have to give credit to Shanahan though,. He has made a very simple offense to allow RG to succeed. He rarely has to make more than 3 reads and then make a decision and most times it is only 2 and a dump route. This can be seen by how well cousins did when he came in and started his first game ever and has the most passing yards for the season in a single game for the team. The real key to the redskins success is morris and the skins winning the time of possession battle and limiting the number of offensive chances the seahawks are going to have. I think it is going to be a close game but the edge is going to go to the seahawks and they pull out a close victory. Here are my winners for the weekend: Texans Packers Ravens Seahawks All close games in my mind.... 1 Quote

Bring him back and he wont be the same under Haslett, I can't wait for Brian to get healthy again, he would put Jackson on the bench, I like Jackson but he is no Orakpo. I do like your wishful thinking though !!!! Training camp never ended this season, ball control is something they work on every week, I agree, it shows !!! Quote

Absolutly no doubt in my mind, he has been the key to everything the Skins have done on offense this entire season, even the blocking schemes, Morris has a great eye for finding gaps and a lot of heart to get away from tackles, if he makes it into the secondary he could be going for 6, but I agree the games are going to be tight, all of them. 1 Quote

Jackson has shown he is much better in coverage, 4 INTs this year. and he is a capable pass rusher. Orakpo has regressed as a pass rusher and has had injury problems during his career. Orakpo rarely creates turnovers. its something to think about on the business side of things too, money is going to matter... Quote

Here are my winners for the weekend: Texans Packers Ravens Seahawks All close games in my mind.... 5 of the last 7 offenses the Seahawks faced were 23rd or worst in the league, i havent looked back further but theyre beating up on chumps. in fact they only faced 3 teams that finished top ten in offense all year. oh, and RG3 doesnt get rattled Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 4, 2013 Super User Posted January 4, 2013 Oh how quickly people forget and how jaded they are for their own team.....in the last 7 games they beat the 49ers and the patriots earlier in the season. The skins have beat 2 teams that are in the playoffs where the Seahawks have beaten 4 yes 4 teams that are in the playoffs. If you take it a step further the skins only had 3 games on their schedule that are teams currently in the playoffs as opposed to 5 for the Seahawks. Stats don't tell the whole story and if you ever watched the Seahawks you would realize their defense is nasty. The skins have played some serious cupcakes in their run too...Cleveland, philly twice and the ever choking cowboys twice. And to say RG doesn't get rattled is just silly. Every qb gets rattled but to shanahan's credit he only asks him to pass about 25 plays a game so he understands RG and doesn't want to give him to many chances to screw up. The same can be said for Wilson except he is a better passer than RG but RG has the nod running, barely. Both teams are playing good football right now but the defense of the seahawks is substantially better which is why I think they will win. Scary thing is I am an eagles fan but a total football junkie and watch all the games I can.....nfl ticket package can be a curse at times Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 4, 2013 Super User Posted January 4, 2013 I like the skins this weekend, seattle is under 500 on the road this year. I also like cincy, as houston looks like a bullied kid and has no momentum. Baltimore will win and it will be Ray lewis' last win, as they don't have enough on either side of the ball to compete going forward. Green bay will put a hurtin on Minnesota, I just think the pack are a much better team, and only seeded this way because of the replacement refs taking that seattle game from them. As for Ray Lewis, great player, no question he had a hand in the murder of another human, not saying he did it, but at the least he covered it up, because of that, I dont like him or respect him. It was actually 2 guys that were killed. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 4, 2013 Super User Posted January 4, 2013 That being said, Pats and Niners in the bowl, Pats win the rematch. 1 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 4, 2013 Super User Posted January 4, 2013 and if it is Pats and Niners, Redline PM me and we can work out a small wager, perhaps some import lures. Quote

Lol if u look at our track record, Lewis, mcnair, Morris, Mcallister..., raven's Moto "We build Defenses not roll models" lol But I think ur right we get past the colts and r done. Quote
bassh8er Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Oh how quickly people forget and how jaded they are for their own team.....in the last 7 games you forgot that they throttled Denver on the road and the 49ers and the patriots earlier in the season. Super User flyfisher Posted January 7, 2013 Super User Posted January 7, 2013 Looks like the game went just like I said.....Seahawks defense trumps the skins. 4 for 4 in my picks so far.....this next round of games won't be quite as easy to pick. Quote

endless Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 It's going to be heck of a NFC championship game if somehow comes down to my 49ers and Seahawks battling it out. Division rivals battling it out for the NFC CHAMPS!! But lets say we beat the Hawks while the Ravens claims the AFC? Then we will have two head coaches in the Super Bowl that are brothers. May the best Harbaugh> JIM win. Just wondering have there ever been a AFC / NFC championship game with teams from the same division? 1 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 7, 2013 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 7, 2013 It was a little iffy in the 1st quarter, but the Hawks settled down and went to business. They shut down Washington while amassing 24 unanswered points. Very impressive win, especially for those who said Seattle couldn't win on the road. Bring on Atlanta! Quote
