How Do You Keep Your Hands Warm?

I went fishing with my buddy Thursday and it was a pretty nice day until about 45 minutes in my hands started to get cold and eventually it became very difficult to tie knots. Now I want to know how you keep your hands warm while you bass fish or any gloves you wear while you fish. Thank you!

Are your hands cold just because of the air temps, or does getting them wet contribute to the cold? Be sure to keep your hands dry. Keep a towel tucked under your belt, and dry them off asap after handling a fish.

You can also try the latex or nitrile surgical type of gloves. They may take the edge off. You can also tie knots while wearing them.

You can also wear extra layers of clothing. It may sound strange, but it will keep the blood on the surface a bit warmer, which will help your hands.

At some point you may have to just suck it up and wear gloves, It may be a pain to remove them and put them back on as needed but there are not many things worse than being uncomfortably cold on the water.

Hunting gloves when you motor, cotton gloves when you fish.

I don't usually wear gloves fishing, but I always have them available.

Somebody offered me this little gem last year on the river walleye fishing. wearing them under gloves helps keep hands warm ten fold.

Check out SealSkinz. They're waterproof gloves and they both keep your hands dry and extremely warm. On the really cold days, I'll even stuff a small hot-hands in there. Doesn't get much better.

No-mex flight gloves with the leather palms or wool liners with the finger cut out down to the first knuckle.

I wear neoprene gloves. Waterproof and keeps your hands warm. Not big and bulky so you can actually use your hands.

I wear just a pair underarmour utility gloves (keep them dry) and keep a pair of those old big golf mittens with hot hands in them for when I feel my hands getting cold.

The latex gloves are a good thing too, but I just never liked the way they felt.

I've used the Wind River Converta-Mitt Windblocker Gloves for the past 6 years and think they're great for fishing during the winter time. They have a windproof, waterproof membrane between two layers of fleece. I can fold back the finger and thumb covers and hold a rod or tying a knot with no problems.

SealSkinz makes a fingerless glove that is great for fishing. I also have a pair of wool fingerless gloves. Wool stays relatively warm even when wet.

BTW I usually have two pair with me. I change pairs if one gets wet.

I am not a glove wearer myself but i do always keep a few of the shake and warm packs in my pockets so i can warm up my hands pretty quick. I do have a pair of simms fleece fingerless gloves with the flip down mitten cover that goes over top and i will put them on to warm up if needed.

The other thing you can do if your hands get really cold is swing your arms around in fast, large circles. This will force the blood into your hands and also get your heart rate up a little.
