gar-tracker Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Anyone fish it? I pre fished in that wind for 3 days and managed about 15lb a day, Got a couple of 5's but thats it. We opted out, I went home. Sounds like someone got a 32 lb sack. Quote

piscicidal Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Jack (shallow thinker) and I fished it. We weighed 16.71...11th place. There were 81 boats....turnout a little low. The big wind kept a lot of people home. Also they are operating the lock in Clewiston only letting through ~15 boats at a time. Quote
bocabasser Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Mike and I fished it. We had 12 pounds, but left at 2:30. Just couldn't find big fish. The ironic thing is, we fished 3 areas and the top 3 boats of the tourny were in those areas. Either our timing was off or we weren't throwing the right baits. Quote

Timing is everything, man the weights must have dropped after the top 4, if 16 got 11th. Good Job. I heard it was won down south but I don't care or listen to that stuff. Did they launch from the outside? Or make everyone lock through? Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Launched from outside but alot of people had to lock anyway, we fished sun up to sun down sat with nothing, decided to fish it anyways figuring weights would be down, fished south and caught 100 fish but nothing over three pounds. Guy who won also won last bfl, buddy i fished with roomed with him at bfl regional at seminole and talked to him, said he wasnt on same fish as bfl but was south and he saw us several times, go figure. He was flipping. Quote
piscicidal Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Solis caught his BFL fish up by Cochrans Pass flipping that Medlock Jig. I think he was south on Sunday. I talked to some of the prominent flipping gurus at the Lake on Sunday and none of them broke 10lbs. Solis is on some different fish than the rest of em, apparently... Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 ahhh was told he caught em on west wall in bfl.....never can believe??? Quote
topwaterrob Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Man that lake was brutal....I should have opted out, but figured i'd give it the old college try.... tapped out by 1pm with only a few fish.... I should have realized why there was only me and one other boat near the shoal.... Quote

I should have realized why there was only me and one other boat near the shoal.... That wind would have made the shoal impossible to fish. In fact it ruled out pretty much any outside line from the shoal to Pelican. It was brutal, I caught about a million dinks on Friday at the south end in one tiny pass. Saturday I caught a 5 and 4, Im kind of mad i didn't fish it but the wind wore me down for 3 days. Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 ahhh was told he caught em on west wall in bfl.....never can believe??? Exactly thats why I don't listen to any of that crap. It will hurt you more then help you trust me. Unless its a good friend or someone you trust. Any info I hunt for is what the fish are doing, in out etc.. Quote
