Met up with my buddy after work today, we both had our boats out on the water, what an awesome time!

I caught this nice little crappie, and this 2lb 4oz Bass. My Buddy caught this beautiful 3lber.

Huh, looks like you are righty on spinning reels and left on baitcasters. Just looking at those lefty baitcasters makes my hands feel funny haha, awesome fish! Do those crappies eat drop shots or do you target them? I have caught a few on drop shots before.

Posted

hah I'm left handed on both, thanks man they were fun to catch! I don't target crappie, they usually hit my spinnerbaits. But you can easy target them on the drop shot.

Finally caught my first smallmouth and wow was this a fight!!!

Took my buddy out on my boat last night for some late night fishing. We both haven't fished nights and it was a blast!! Most of our bass came around midnight! I caught my first ever Midnight Bass 3lbs even and my buddy hooked into a 3lbs 8oz as well. With a mix of 2lbers.

Nice Bass ~

Night Operations for bass are very different than day fishing in so many ways.

It's easy to get addicted to - especially with results like that. (which are not uncommon).

Congrats

btw - your "season" is almost over (July).  Perhaps you'll consider extending it this year  :laugh5:

Thanks A-Jay!

Yeah night fishing is now got me thinking... This was my first time ever keeping my boat out on the lake in the am hours. It was definitely a different world on feh dark water. Surprisingly they were hitting drop shots. But all my bass came from chatterbaits. The wind was heavy all day yesterday and never stopped at night. I'm still trying to figure out the a good technique to locate and get big bass to hit during the night hours. Lol hey my season is now extended until December lol

Been fishing the night shift for bass for years - less than some more than others.

For me the same baits that work during the day work at night.  Same places too - occasionally fish come a little shallower at night and even invade places that are usually void of bass during the day but have plenty of bait - like swimming area's / beaches.  Might be worth a look.

IMO night bass fishing is a totally different animal.  One that offers a Huge up side including making one a much better daylight angler.

Good Luck and Stay Safe out there (wear your pfd all night)
