Here are all of the areas we have, What we would like to do is find out where we have the most interest and get the list down to a top 5, out of that top 5 your vote will determine where the next meet and greet will be.

All of the campgrounds I have spoken with so far have all said they are usually booked 1 to 3 months in advance, so the sooner the better, that way we can have all of the most important information available posted for each.

Please keep this post for votes only, any questions, please ask them in the "Va. meet and greet 2013" thread or send Zoff or myself a PM.

1) Potomac, near Mattawomen

2) Chick river

3) Lake Moomaw

4) Briary Creek

5) Claytor Lake

6) Leesville Lake

7) Occoquan Reservoir, Sandy run or Fountainhead

8) Smith Mountain Lake

9) Kerr Lake (Buggs Island)

10) Lake Gaston

11) Philpott Lake

Unless you're rowing, you can't launch from Sandy onto the Occoquan. It's not a public ramp.

Plus the res is 9.9hp limit! You can drop a big boat in, just TM only after that. Plus Fountainhead has boat rentals.

Good options.

Problem with Chick is that if the wind is blowing from the east the fishery shuts down. Plus the fact that it is expensive to stay in the Williamsburg area.

Claytor may be too far for the guys to travel.

Potomac and SML are good all year.

Never been to Occoquan Reservoir @ Fountainhead. Any traffic problems and are there any reasonably priced motels to stay if necessary where we can charge our boat batteries?

Good question Sam.

I did not bother with Hotels/Motels, their prices vary so much from place to place and the area may not be acceptable for a comfortable feeling when having a family and or boat with you.

I personally would rather you guy's research those so that you feel comfortable with a suitable area to fit your needs and feelings of security.

Just as an FYI, for Smallwood State Park MD, the Waldorf and LaPlata MD areas have many motels that regularly see anglers fishing Potomac tournaments. On the VA side, look to the Rte 1 corridor area for lodging.

Please don't stone my head, BUT...

How do you guys regular do the "meet and greet "... reading around most of you guys have boat or any gear to be on the water. What about the people that we have to stay on the " shore line / river - lake bank " I know you guys have this activity on camping sites and I camp a LOT and all camping places have a LOT to do. BUT just to know... IS this just for " boat people " ?...

Thanks guys! ( is better to be dumb one day, that the whole life )

No way, we want to give co-anglers (non-boaters) the opportunity to fish from a boat.

We would like to have as many co-anglers as we have boaters, we just don't want to be in a position where we have more co-anglers than we have room on the boats and have to leave someone on the bank for a while. During the 2012 M&G I fished with two co-anglers (my boat holds 3), and we had a ball.

I think I can speak for the rest when I say no one would be left out even if we had to fish in four hour shifts. Also, any style of boat is welcome. Also, it's not just for campers, you can come for the day, share a cabin with others, or find a local motel. Some of us bring food of some type, but it's not required, just chip in a donation ($5.00) for the burgers or whatever.

The main purpose of the event is to meet fellow BR members and enjoy some camaraderie, food, and fishing. Try it, you'll enjoy your self, and you'll make some new friends; but beware, some of us are crazy :) Not me of course, but the others???????

Well put.

We pushed the limit this year but hope, based on how much fun we had, more boaters will participate. It was really cool to see so many different types of people get together on a single interest. We had every personality from "If they got anymore easy going and laid back we'd have to do an autopsy" to "high speed low drag". Hope we get a bunch more in 2013.

Yep, we want to take the guys who fish from shore in a bass boat so they can enjoy the experience.

Hopefully we will have more boaters in 2013.

If not, then we need to consider taking guys out for two hours at a time.

In an eight hour day each boater can take four fellow fishermen in their boats.

Just food for thought.

"high speed low drag".

Well at least you guy's are not talking behind my back LOL !!!!!

Don't let these guy's fool ya, they are a lot of fun to be around !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We enjoy giving everyone the opportunity they may otherwise not have, this meet and greet will get better with time, everyone of these we learn from and we will apply new things each and every meet and greet we go to, camping is just part of the fun, keep in mind this is a family event, we would like to have family envolved as well, so if your wife, son, daughter, wishes to come along, bring them too !!!

But it does not stop there, I have made some new friends to fish with as well, and I look forward to future outings with all of the new people I have met and have yet to meet, the meet and greet may only be for a day maybe more in the future, but the friendship we make will last a lifetime and the opportunity to learn new techniques from others during those outings will help us all to be better fishermen, so please feel free to join us, boaters and non boaters alike !!!!!

We of course do not wish for anyone to have to be shore bound during this event, it is much better as an all day event but we will do whatever it takes to let all non boaters have their shot at fishing from a boat.

It was a lot of fun and it still continues to be a lot of fun, I look forward to this upcoming event and doing it all over again !!!

Now, lets get drunk and be somebody !!!!!

Ok it's 5 to 4 with the Potomac out front, 2 votes for the Res and 2 votes for the Chick.

It's getting close so if you want to have a great time in your favorite area you need to make your votes count so get em in now before the last day of December !!!!

This year has been an awesome year !!!

Even though I did not get to fish that much, the meet and greet has opened a few doors to help make some new friends and fish with some really great people, I can't tell you how much fun it is getting to know all of you.

Traveler, it has been a blessing to be able to spend some time with you, I wish we would have had more time on the water at Anna and caught a few more fish back in that cove, but what a memory seeing you use a spinner as a top water bait.

Zoff, I have to say I can not remember having a better time meeting family, you opened your home to me and I felt humbled to be there, the fishing was a fantastic part of the day but your family made the whole trip worth every mile driven and thats one trip I will never forget.

Quan, I can tell you this, you have made the last trip out this year a really great trip, I have not met anyone who knows his home waters as intimately as you do, and then to turn right around and let someone in on all of that knowlage was really special, after watching you put that knowlage to work and showing the confidence you had, you came up with some really great fish in there and to see that plan put to work was awesome !!!

I can not wait for the next trip with any of you, there are already future plans in the works for next year with a couple of my new friends and I hope this next meet and greet will open the same doors for you all as it did for me, it's really a great time and I for one hope all of you can bring your families and enjoy it with us !!!!

NitroFreak... I believe this has been the best year of fishing I have ever had. No because of the fish I caught (or didn't) but because of the friends I made and the fellowship I was blessed with. Based on that... even if we have the Meet and Greet at somewhere other than SML... I invite any of you down here to stay and fish. Cheers!

Thanks for the flowers NF, I am also looking forward to the up-coming year fishing with everyone, on whatever water is chosen. I'd like to see us get together more than just once a year though.
