Sort of - there still can be some decent smb action but it will be very Dependant on the weather.

This recent cold snap could be best case. It might speed up turn over. So if we can get some reasonable temps / sun after turn over and if the lakes don't freeze over - It could be rewarding.

I hate snow.

I hate fishing in the snow and ice when we get it in Virginia.

Don't know where you are but please accept my kindest sympathy for living in the snow belt.

Down here in Richmond, Virginia, the Capitol of the Confederacy, when it snows everyone goes to the supermarket and then drives into a ditch!!!!!

I'm up in northern MI - and although it takes a forecast of snow in the epic category before there is a mass rush to the supermarket, there is always plenty of knuckle heads who barrel up, over and through the generous snow banks that inevitably develop along the road side.

It's an old tradition, even here in New England. When it starts to snow, or even if it's just forecast, all the markets have a run on bread, eggs, and milk.

It's a throwback to years ago when a few inches of snow could take a few days to be removed. With modern equipment, the crews can keep up with anything short of a full fledged blizzard. Even then, the roads are usually clear a few hours after the snow stops.

The exception is in the cities. Rather than staying put, people venture out, get stuck, and block roads, preventing the snowplows from keeping the roads open. Then the snow can really pile up and the side streets in the cities can be snowed in for a few days.

No this is the end of the beginning for fishing this year. I heard there might be road trip in A-Jay's future slightly south of his present location.

You also could add the detail of all they buy is frozen pizza, beer and bread too :)

I like the winter and i like fishing in the winter but i do switch to trout fishing and chasing brookies in the mountain streams or the spring creeks. Spring creeks are really nice because the water temperature doesn't fluctuate to much year round. There is something pretty cool about catching fish on topwater with snow on the ground :)
