NEjitterbugger Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Haven't caught any monsters with a culprit, but I have caughten several 2pounders with black ones or half black half purple ones... Definatley not my favorite worm! -I was using them in very shallow water -Would not recommend to a fisherman who was "unsatisfied" with small fish -Overall not thrilled about the action either IMO Slug-Os are the best worm... But Slug-Os don't fit everyones fishing personallity, anyway I bet some people's go to worm is a culprit it's really about first impression on a bait and how/if you have success with it. My dad and I sometimes can't get a bite to save our lives with a certain lure. Yet the other one is catching bass after bass. Quote
Dave P Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Normal type of water that you'd use a TX rig in. I've caught crap tons of bass on the red shad and purple shad colors. Quote
Highhawk1948 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 When I am not throwing Producto Tournament Worms I throw Culprit 7 1/2 inch worm. Caught fish up to 10.2 pounds on them. I fish them in stained water anywhere you would fish a worm. Quote
Goose21 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Tried and true culprit 10" worm. Fish in any water, Texas rigged with a weight of your choice or no weight. I've had lots of success slowly dragging and hopping through brush piles and lay downs. I''ve caught fish on name a color. Quote
TNBassin' Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Toilet water....... I never have any luck with those worms. All the little fish just want to play with the tail. I have never caught anything on Culprit worms. Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted October 10, 2012 Super User Posted October 10, 2012 They work good in Missouri. Quote
xxjace Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I've had great success with them and they are fairly cheap too..I recently stopped using them,no reason just started using other things for a change..I haven't fished worms in quite a while.. My catch ratio was higher with the culprits though..crawdad was my best color though. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 11, 2012 Author Super User Posted October 11, 2012 yeah i was just wondered what type of whatever ive had alot of nibble going on.... i threw it for about half an hour this am 2 bites fishing it wieghtless and 1/4 toughnston.. switched to a weitghless 10 inch zoom worm no tail.. let it fall poped it once and nailed a 4 pounder!! what the h e double hockey sticks Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 11, 2012 Author Super User Posted October 11, 2012 Im sure they work there a great looking worm imo but its just not working like the water melon seed which is what ive been throwing for about a week now Quote
tennsopher Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I have caught many large fish on culprit worms. They are made here in Fla.and I know a lot of guys that swearby them and will throw nothing else. That being said,a lot of worm fishing includes many variables i.e.length,color,tail action, weight, buoancy, and hook size used.I have been fishing worms since the late 60's when the creme worms had three exposed hooks and a harness and were the hot bait.Point being, find what works for you and when it gets slow don't be afraid to experiment. Diggy Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 7 inch purple has worked well for me, more so my dad who is failry new to bass fishing had the most success with the purple 7 inch worms I gave him a few of. He always sounds like al bundy with the I caught 7 fish in 15 minutes line Quote
fishking247 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 i never used the 10" culprit but i use the 10" zoom ol' monster in black with great success. texas rigged, fished weightless, or fished with a nail weight. they flat out catch fish! Quote
Super User Alpster Posted October 11, 2012 Super User Posted October 11, 2012 I have caught more bass on a Culprit worm than all other baits in my box combined. From South Louisiana to New Jersey and a 100 places in between. If you fish them with confidence they will produce. Better than a Senko, in my opinion. Ronnie Quote
NBR Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 My favorite worm in a black top grey bottom. Used about an 8 " worm in Mich. Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 11, 2012 Super User Posted October 11, 2012 I am not sure what Culprit worm has a sawtooth tail, Culprite is known for their ribbon tail worms. Zoom makes a gator or G tail worm. Since the bass are going to be eating the worm, you must put the worm in front of the bass. The style of tail is designed to give the worm a life like motion and move water to create vibrations to trigger strikes. No panacea with tail types, only the bass know what they want at any given time.. All mass produced soft plastic worms are injection molded with a durable plastic that has less under water movement than the more expensive, less durable hand poured worms. You get what you pay for. I fish about 4 or 5 ponds and since I have been fishing them I have honed in on what works and doesn't some styles of bait work in all, some baits work in one and not the other, some colors work in all some colors work on in one. Maybe the fish in your pond just don't like the worm style or that particular color. 1 Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 12, 2012 Author Super User Posted October 12, 2012 Mcs thats what im thinking ill try them again some where else.. bc right now Zoom is in style for me Quote
Super User MCS Posted October 12, 2012 Super User Posted October 12, 2012 Mcs thats what im thinking ill try them again some where else.. bc right now Zoom is in style for me Yeah try them in another spot. I will be honest I have tried the culprit in a few of the spots a few different ways but still no luck and I will also be honest I don't fish it with the most confidence or length of time. It is hard to break away from what is working. Nice thing about the bass is their prefrence usually changes and you have to change bait and style to keep up. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted October 12, 2012 Super User Posted October 12, 2012 13" Culprit is the only worm I fish. All different colors depending on water. 1/16oz bullet weight and a 5/0 EWG hook Trigged. Always produces when the need for speed has died down. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted October 12, 2012 Super User Posted October 12, 2012 They work good in Missouri. For sure. A friend of mine {Who I think is the best bass angler in this area] Has won multiple tournaments , thousands of dollars on culprits. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 15, 2012 Author Super User Posted October 15, 2012 yeah im going to try thowing them again at this pond and if i get nothing ill save them for a spot ive never fished before.. Do to the fact im not catching any fish on them here. so ill stay with my brush hogs, lizards and my worms that always produce for me.. Quote
