SAC2 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm in the middle of In Fisherman's Largemouth Bass book. It is an alright read, its pretty basic, and also pretty dated. Quote

Traveler2586 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 http://www.buckperry.com/index.php The best buy on the market, and a resource you'll refer back to often. Buck was the farther of structure fishing and learned it all without electronics. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted October 8, 2012 Super User Posted October 8, 2012 Denny Brauer fan here. I've read both his books, Winning Tournament Tactics and Jig Fishing Secrets. Winning Tournament Tactics has chapters covering seasonal bass location, weather conditions, water conditions, cover and structure, lure selection and techniques, to name a few. Jig Fishing Secrets has chapters covering seasonal bass location, weather conditions, water conditions, cover and structure and jig fishing techniques. Both were written back in the '90's but are great reads for $15/book, IMHO. Quote

Super User Sam Posted October 8, 2012 Super User Posted October 8, 2012 All of the above are great options. Heavy reading and studying about bass it is Dr. Jones' book. For fun it is Ike's book. In between there are many to select among including anything by Kevin VanDam. Quote
tbassfd Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Kinda dated but I just finished Roland Martins New 101 Bass Catching Secrets Quote
Traveler2586 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 A good book is never dated unless it's full of fluff, smoke, or personal opinion rather than facts. 1 Quote

Backwoodsbasser Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I can't believe nobody mentioned "The Big Book of Bass" strategies for catching largemouth and smallmouth The book is incredible and I've read quite a few boks from the in fisherman bass books. Mike iaconelli, bass fishing like a pro, and other largemouth and smallmouth tactic books. Every serious angler needs to check it out Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 11, 2012 Super User Posted October 11, 2012 Books should be selected on what your interest are, there are a lot of bass fishing books out there. Historic books start with the The Book Black Bass by Dr. Henshall. Some early books of interest are Lucas on Bass, Jason Lucas, Black Bass by Robert Page Linclon. Lucas was the fishing editor for Sports Aflield and Linclon for Outdoor Life during the '50's. On the lighter side is Think Like a Fish by Tom Mann, early B.A.S.S. pro and creator of Hummin Bird Electronics and Mann's bait Co. Trophy fishing Bill Murphy's In Pursuit of Giant Bass, is a must read and Sowbelly by Monte Burke is a good read. Bill Siemantel's Big Bass Zone is worth reading if you are a swimbait fisherman. Finesse bass fishing Don Iovino's book Finesse fishing and the Sonar Connection is a must read. Every top tournament bass angler has a book out, take your choice. Tom Quote
