BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 6, 2012 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 6, 2012 A variation of the blood knot. Very simple. Now why didn't I think of that? Quote

Super User Hooligan Posted October 6, 2012 Super User Posted October 6, 2012 I've used that method, the single greatest drawback is that it seems to increase line twist dramatically. I was shown that by Shin Fukae at Table Rock a couple years ago. The only time he uses it is when he uses a TX Rig dropshot, or Owner Downshot. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 7, 2012 Super User Posted October 7, 2012 That is good knot especially if there is a small hook eye and thin line. I don't dropshot but I do use a bottom rig aka chicken or guppy rig, I use a double palomar given the fact I may be using a larger hook and may have my sinker already tied on. I think that "Japanese" knot is well worth knowing, easy to tie, I'm going to to try it. Quote

Tim Kelly Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 I use that Japanese knot, though tie it slightly differently. Never had one break, so I think it's a winner. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 16, 2017 Super User Posted January 16, 2017 Used to call that a dropper knot. It's routinely tied without the hook tied into it but with a short length of line left between the main line & the hook - length is completely adjustable. Works well. Can't speak for how the knot will perform when the shank of the hook is actually incorporated into the knot like shown here. I do expect it to perform at it's best if that music is playing in the background while it's tied up. A-Jay Quote
