Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted October 6, 2012 Super User Posted October 6, 2012 Just wondering if anyone uses these. They come in various weights with 2/0 and 4/0 size Gamakatsu hooks. Seems pretty convenient with the weight being built into the hook. Less to deal with when rigging. Is there a downside to these Im not seeing? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 6, 2012 Global Moderator Posted October 6, 2012 The hook is very light wire and straightens easily. They also snag much easier than a normal T-rig for some reason. I was not a fan of them but I know some guys love them. Quote
merc1997 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 those were originally designed by joe bennett, and they were called jobee's hook. not for sure if i spelled that right or not. i know a bit of the background of the hook, and i am not for sure that the manufacture in question came by them quite honest. as far as the hook set up itself, i have not used one. to start with, i am not a fan of that style of hook, and it is a flimsy hook. from my own experience, a stouter hook will penetrate with less force than a flimsy one will. bo Quote
craww Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I bought some 1/0's a few years ago. Definetely not a fan of it for TX rigging. A bullet weight and seperate hook have more flex and wiggle. One day I noticed a bunch of bass fry all over a hydrilla covered flat. Looking thru my box, I found some 3" paddle tail bass assasin grubs in baby bass color.limited to shore, with veggitation in the water everywhere, the normal exposed ball head wasn't a good option. I stumbled across these jigs which I'd literally used 1 time in 3 years. Long story short and 30 fish later That started my use of these jigs. You have to watch them when using braid. The hooks do flex a bit. Its the design, just perfect for pulling grubs through grass that I like. Wish someone made a better quality model, but the luck e's work Quote
TNBassin' Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I barely tx rig worms anymore. The rage rig has taken it's place. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted October 6, 2012 Super User Posted October 6, 2012 I like the "Charlie Brewer" slider better and have caught a lot of fish with it. http://www.sliderfishing.com/images/1312214067582-1016902371.jpeg Ronnie Quote
Crappiebasser Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Try Owner's Sled Heads. They all all I use for a shaky head anymore because they come through cover so well. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted October 7, 2012 Author Super User Posted October 7, 2012 Thanks for giving me some other optoins to look at guys. I barely tx rig worms anymore. The rage rig has taken it's place. How do you rage rig something. I'm still new and haven't heard of it. Quote
Loop_Dad Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I bought a pack of Owners. I thought it was good idea first, but then I quickly realized that I am stuck with the hook size they use. I probably would not buy these type of set up any more. I rather have the freedom of selecting the hook size for the bait and weight for the depth by using T-rig. Quote
