koulaid Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 What kind hooks do you guys use for flipping soft plastic baits? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 22, 2010 Super User Posted February 22, 2010 Depends on the cover and the bait. Most commonly: Owner Wide Gap Plus (3-5/0) Owner Offset Worm Hook (1-5/0) Owner SSW Bent Eye (4-6/0) Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 22, 2010 Super User Posted February 22, 2010 Mustad's Denny Brauer Straight Shank Flipping Hook Quote
Rich Tehan Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Gamakatsu 2/0-4/0 EWG worm hook and Owner Z-neck offset 3/0-4/0 Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Owner Twist Lock Trokar Flippin Hook or BMF Gammi G-lok Depends on what bait is being used. Quote
FL Knifemaker Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I use a bunch of different hooks from 3-5 size. I've also been adding a heat shrink tubing bait keeper to all of them. Once I figured out the exact way to shape them and exactly where on the hook to put them, they REALLY work well. A pack of heat shrink tubing at the hobby store or Radio Shack will do MANY MANY hooks Quote
KC Bass Fanatic Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I like to flip big 10" or longer worms and I use the Owner Oversize worm hook in 7/0 for 10-12" worms and 11/0 for anything longer. They are super beefy and razor sharp out of the package. Quote
simplejoe Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I like to use the Owner Twist-locks and the Gammy G-lock hooks. Quote
koulaid Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 I will be using the new ragetail rooster this year. Quote
