Went by Burke today to check the water levels and to my surprise, water is down nearly 4 feet!! Park employees said a dam renovation project was getting started and they were drawing the lake level down to make it easier to improve the dam against storm runoff. The water level is going to be close to 6 feet lower during the upgrade to the dam. Project is supposed to be ongoing for 3-4 months! They also said that the ramps my not be able to be used if the water levels make it too difficult to launch boats. I sure hope I can get my little jon in there with the low water levels come November and December!!!

Goodness !!!!

How deep is that place anyway?

Think of it this way the shallow water may turn into something good for the fishing.

When they were working on a dam at one of my camping spots with a private lake my family and I visit, the water level was roughly 6' low, man did it turn on the fishing there !!!...I think that was the time my wife snagged my favorite hat as she was casting and sent it to the other end of the lake.

Regaurdless, I hope you are able to get out there by then.

Nitro, the deepest spots I have graphed are around 33-35 feet deep. I hope I can still get out there as well after the complete drawdown. In the winter this is one great place to fish. The big fish will group up on brush piles and destroy jigs!!

COOL !!!

I would like that, I do not remember if I have ever fished Burke or not, if I did I may have been to little or we were there for a visit, but I have always heard it's good.

Thank you for the invite Quanjig, I will get back with you close to the end of the month, I will have my new Seibert Outdoors jigs by then and it sounds like the perfect place to get em wet !!!!

That would be great. I will keep an eye on the level to make sure it's good to go!

Quan I have heard good things fishing with the water level drawn down. I thought this was going to be a problem.... I was looking forward to fishing some of the flats next to deeper water.... thought it would draw in some shallow feeders. Yet I have heard of some guys having success in the last two weeks.

I will def be hitting it up with the inflatable, just hope I do not get stuck in the mud trying to get out there.

I looked at the main park ramp yesterday and see no reason why you wouldn't be able to drop in right there. I am dying to get out there right now but have the next two weekends booked up with other obligations! Then I'm heading to Wisconsin for a long weekend to see the inlaws so it is unlikely I will be out there until the middle of November sometime. Let us know if you get out and how you do!

Got out on Burke before Sandy. The lake was about 6ft down and lots of new things to be seen. Bite was tough, caught 5 bass and this nice walleye!

Wow I thought the water would be lower than that. Tried to get out today but this stupid thing I have called work keeps dragging me in. I might try to fish tomorrow, but the rain might make it real tough.
