Super User MarkH024 Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 Well that was a great end to my evening. I despise the Cowboys about as much as I hate the Chicago Cubs. It's always nice to get a win from the teams you dislike the most. Ditka, Bearsssss, Polish Sausage, Da Bears! Quote
Super User slonezp Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 Great end? There's still 2 minutes left. I made some extra spending cash Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Super User Posted October 2, 2012 3 Td's and a FG in 2 minutes? This isn't arena football. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 2, 2012 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 2, 2012 The Cowgirls are simply an awful team. They haven't been relevant in years, yet they still get on Monday night and Sunday night football over and over, plus Thanksgiving. *YAWN!* It's beyond me how a such a below-average team makes it into prime time so much! 1 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Glen I agree with you. Last time they were really a team. Was the mid 90s. I was 10 years old at the time. I am now 27. So that means for 17 years. They have sucked. I think they get the Prim time games and Thanksgiving games. Because the TV networks think there still "Americas Team". What ever that means? I think the Packers, Bears, Lions, Giants, Jets, The original and new Browns and Steelers have more of a fan base. That is spread out more around the country. They might not draw the numbers for TV. But they always have good games. I bet that Almost all the fans of the teams I said. Are true and loyal fans. Have been since birth. Even if they do not follow the game as close as other fans. They still check the scores of there team first. Were I think the cowboys fans are ridding a Bandwagon. I think they have been riding it since the Landry and Staubach days. Then went in hiding for a few decades. Then The 90s happened. So they got more people on there bandwagon. I just saw what happened last night. Sounds like the same old cowboys to me. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 Yes they do have cheerleaders. My beloved Bears got rid of the Honey Bears, gotto be 20 years ago. 1 Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Super User Posted October 2, 2012 Cheerleaders? That draws half their fan base. Chicago needs to bring back the Honey Bears! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 I am not a fan of the bears but i sure hate the cowboys. And now that i think about it, it probably isn't the team as much as it is all the fake fans that say they are cowboys fans. As soon as the cowboys win you see jerseys everywhere as soo nas they lose they miraculously disappear. My test is to always ask them to name 5 players on the team not named Romo and see what they come up with...i know being an eagles fan i can easily name twice that many so if they can't do that i just lump them in with all the yankees fans out there Not to mention it also helped me take the lead in my weekly pick'em pool :) Quote
preach4bass Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I'm a Cowboys fan. I'm a Cowboys fan who admits that they are not the great franchise they once were. But, the reason for the Sunday Night, Monday Night games is that across the nation, they are one of the most popular teams. Everywhere I've lived there has been a nice contingency of Cowboys fans. Also, if you don't cheer for them, you probably hate them. And, when you hate a team, you love to watch them so you can cheer against them. I do the same thing with the Redskins. So, they get the primetime games because people will watch them. The TV executives aren't idiots. They are after ratings. The Cowboys get the ratings. As far as the Thanksgiving game goes, that's just tradition. It might not be one you like, but it's tradition. Same as the Lions. Tipptruck: If the Cowboys fans have been on their bandwagon for the past four decades, they are not bandwagon fans. They lived through the 1-15 debacle. If they stuck with the star through that, they are true fans. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 3, 2012 Super User Posted October 3, 2012 Back to cheerleaders... Denver never won a Super Bowl without them. Has ANY team won a Super Bowl without cheerleaders? Quote

Two words. Jerry Jones and a billon dollar stadium. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 3, 2012 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 3, 2012 ^^ nailed it ^^ money speaks. Preach - I don't hate them, just sick of seeing them. Especially when there are other teams that much more deserving and better than them - practically every team in the NFL right now. LOL! Seriously, I want to see a good game on prime time or a holiday. The Cowgirls just aren't competitive anymore. Time to stop clinging to the past. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 3, 2012 Super User Posted October 3, 2012 Jerry Jones is getting up in age and he really wants to win one more Super Bowl. To make his wish come true he needs a very good coach who can get the most out of his players. That individual is Coach Nick Saban of the University of Alabama. Look for Jones to make Saban an offer Saban can't refuse. Of course, Jones may want his good buddy Petrino to coach the Cowgirls since Petrino is a jerk and is radioactive in the college ranks for all teams other than Awbunn when they make the coaching change. Time will tell. Quote

hooah212002 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 about as much as I hate the Chicago Cubs. How can anyone hate the Cubs? I'll take my 101 loss season AND LIKE IT. Go Cubs! Quote

Jake P Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 The Cowgirls are simply an awful team. They haven't been relevant in years, yet they still get on Monday night and Sunday night football over and over, plus Thanksgiving. *YAWN!* It's beyond me how a such a below-average team makes it into prime time so much! Define below average? Cowboys have 2 losing seasons in 10 years. They may be dissapointing at times but they are not below average. In fact the Cowboys are the absolute definition of average. If im not mistaken their lifetime record is nearly exactly 500 which IMO is exactly average.Cowboys get primetime spots and Turkey day because wether you or anyone else likes to hear it or not the Cowboys are Americas team. You are not America so because you dislike them doesnt mean they are not Americas team. No other team has more fans in the NFL spread around the world. Steelers are close im sure along with a few others. Let me clarify this post by saying I am not saying Dallas is the best team because I know more than all of you they are NOT. I think they are half way embarrassing to watch to be honest. But I am still a fan til I die. Cowboys get put in the limelight because their TV ratings blow any other game or TV show thats on in the same week totally out of the water! Look it up if you dont believe me. I have. Jerry Jones being a kagillionaire has nothing to do with Cowboys getting MNF and Thanksgiving other than he is outspoken and a spectactle himself along with his huge shiny new stadium. NFL fans love the Cowboys, or love to hate the Cowboys. Either way they are the topic of alot of football talk. CBS or ESPN doesnt care if the fans watching the game are watching because they are Cowboy fans or haters, all they care is that they watch. And they do. And to whoever said Cowboys fans are bandwaggoners needs to learn what a bandwaggoner is. Someone who hops on to ride the good times and hops off when its bad. If you have been a lifelong cowboy fan and didnt give up after the mid 90's, you may be one of the most loyal fans of any team in sports history lol. Quote

hooah212002 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Too funny. I completely disagree with the "you either love the Cowboys or you hate them". No one I know even gives a crap about the Cowboys. I only think about them the week leading up to the Bears game when they happen to play one another. Nearly everyone I know only thinks about the Cowboys the weeks they play their favorite team. They have sucked themselves into oblivion. Off the radar. Crapola. Afterthought. They played well like 15 years ago and are average now. Hardly "Americas Team", whatever that even means. You wanna know what team has a love/hate fanbase? The Yankees. Maybe even the Lakers. I hate both teams with a passion. Quote

hooah212002 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 You forgot to mention the Cubs there. Negative. You are absolutely the only person I have ever met that HATES the Cubs. At best, they are met with pity. But hatred? Save that for teams that are a threat. Or teams that have unlimited salary caps and buy championships. On topic: Bears are winning the SB this year. Cutler is the greatest QB ever. He has an attitude and I LOVE HIM FOR IT, just like I loved Jim McMahon. Forte will get 1k yards, B-Marsh will get 1k yards, Jennings gets 30 picks this season alone. Peanut? Yea, he'll get maybe 10 more pick 6's. Melton and Peppers will combine for 40 sacks. The Pro-Bowl will be an all Bears line-up, but since they're SB bound, none will play. This year, the record for turnovers caused by a defense will be broken for the last time until football is taken over by robots. You could safely say that the 2012 Chicago Bears have the greatest defense in the history of human football. Quote

You have no idea what the fan relationship is like. It's one or the other here for baseball. No "Chicago" fans, you pick a side and you hate the other. On topic: Bears are winning the SB this year. Super User roadwarrior Posted October 4, 2012 Super User Posted October 4, 2012 I like your enthusiasm! Me,too! However, as a Broncos fan, I will NEVER like Cutler. My favorite Bear was Mike Singletary followed closely by Sweetness, the greatest running back of all time! The Super Bowl XX Bears were fun. What a group: Coach Ditka, McMahon, Payton, The Refrigerator and Singletary. Those guys were not just great football players, they embodied the spirit of the game. Quote
