piscicidal Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 You're killing me. I was supposed to fish big O yesterday, but our trip got cancelled (got bumped for Shaw Grigsby...go figure...LOL) Robert's buddies caught ~35lb bag yesterday, with one that looks like a possible double digit. Quote
suzukibullfrog Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 i will be on the lake tomorrow. Hopefully i can find a 30plus stringer. Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Hey Rob picking up my phoenix 721 on sat and going out of clewiston on sunday, any tips? Heard the biggest bags have been down south but a buddy told me a couple weeks ago he fished the bfl and fished around the box and north shore, had 14 plus but said he missed more fish then he ever had in his life, and had even more wake up to his frogs and dippers with no bites. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Quote
Fostinator Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I just moved to ft. lauderdale and wanted to go to lake o but i dont have a boat. is it worth the drive to fish from shore and does anyone know any good spots? Quote
piscicidal Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Fostinator, There is very limited access to Okeechobee from the shore. You can fish a few areas of the rim canal, but with the lake at 15.5ft you need to get out there in the grass. I wouldn't drive up there to fish the rim canal. Quote
gar-tracker Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 OK I was alone and was trying to navigate the timer on my cell and crouch in a weird position, and the photos came out crappy, sorry. Heres 2 of them, I had 2 the same size in the live well with about a 5lber, all released. The one in my left hand was a monster the photo doesn't do it justice. Today was not so good pitched out a couple of fish but not really anything to write home about, but keep in mind I didn't go back to these fish with any luck they'll be there in a week. One of the perils of a tournament fisherman always leaving the fish for tourny day.. Sunkinboat I want to ride in that Phoenix. I like them a lot. Quote
topwaterrob Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Nice fish........ anyone doing ghost & goblins??? Quote
gar-tracker Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 Yes sir, I am, I doubt these fish will still be there by then but I can only hope. I do have a Tournament on the 6th they should still be around for that one, I hope. Quote
GLADES Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I just moved to ft. lauderdale and wanted to go to lake o but i dont have a boat. is it worth the drive to fish from shore and does anyone know any good spots? You can rent a small boat or a bass boat out of Roland Martins in Clewiston. Fishing on the rim ditch bank is a waste of time IMHO. Quote

sunkboat on big o Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Went out of clewiston with new boat on sunday, caught some fish but nothing to take pictures of. Bounced around from north to south. Met Capt Shane stiing in the lock. Think i was more into running the new boat than i was fishing. Talked to a few guys fishing florida bass fed. tourny and no one was catching anything big. Think 24 pounds was biggest i heard with a lot of little bags mixed in. Think they are still waiting to come in. Should be up at the house in lake port sunday rob if you wanna check out the phoenix, I would like to see the big o Quote

Should be up at the house in lake port sunday rob if you wanna check out the phoenix, I would like to see the big o I fished the Federation nation tournament. For me personally we only had 13lb first day and 10lb the second. It was a struggle for alot of people. but one team had 28lbs the first day and 32lbs the second day. There was two or three teams who had the 20lb range. the rest of the teams had about 15lb range. Quote
Shane Procell Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 One of them federation teams had a big fish. I believe he said it was 10.19 #'s. Quote
JayD Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 My son and I went out of slims today and caught 51 bass mostly 2-2.5# 4 of them probably went 4# or so by noon. Nothing really big but a fun day. Quote
