I may have to kidnap Nitro in the dark of the night, I know people that just might help me too ;)

I know what you used to do for a living, and who you worked for, I have no doubt "you know people" LOL !!

Mattawomen huh? I have heard lots of good things about fishing there, I like the idea of the state park too, couple of questions though, is that tidal water? and what hazzards do we need to consider?

I think with Traveler's knowlage of the place we should add Smallwood/Mattawoman to the list.

Now speaking of yaks, is there a rental place nearby for safe small boats? like a john boat, yaks may not be for everyone, but in case we get a huge turn out, im thinking some of these boys and girls may want to have that option.

Yes jon boat would be nice. I have 14' topper with a 7.5 hp motor.

Well then, how many of you have a jon boat?

Traveler, is this place friendly enough that jon boats can be used or are the waters too rough?

I'm open for anything, but my take on the 2012 Va M&G is it was too short, I didn't have time to meet everyone and really chat or fish, Nitrofreak was the exception. But from what I did do, we had a really great bunch of guys & gals there, and I'd like to see them all again.

So how do we address that?

I had a ton of fun fishing with you but as you say I wish I had time to fish and chat with other members also, both of us were there the whole weekend, since we are so far out for next year do we plan a two day event and start from there?

Not for Jon or rowboats, but there is a place to rent yaks.A good portion of the creek/river is a 6 mph no wake zone. And there is a yak launcher at the Mattingly Ave ramp which is within the No Wake zone.I fished this creek for many years with only a 14' Jon with an electric troll and a 15 HP gas. A Jon or a yak can get back into the pads where a glass boats can't.

Hhhhhmmmmmmmmm, this is getting more interesting all the time, I am really liking what this place has to offer so far, and just a reminder, I don't know that you realised it but we were only in 2 1/2 feet at points, Ha Ha !! I kept sticking my rod in the water looking for depth changes and watching the mud roll out from under the boat, We had your glass pretty shallow back in Contrary Creek, are you sure glassers won't make it to where you are speaking of?

Speaking of which I STILL can't believe a big one or two didn't jump on your lure back there, we were there at the right time, I should have told you to switch to a top water but I thought that spinner you had would definately attract the right attention.

Oh well we will do it again sometime I hope.

I personnally would like to see a two day event (Sat & sun), but we need to go with the majority conscenus or we could loose people.

Don't know if you saw me slow rolling that spinner just under the surface like a buzzbait or not but I was creating a bubble trail that I thought should have landed something :)

BTW, I keep a push pole on board just for those areas, I thought I would need it when Steve, AJ & I were up at the end of a creek - we were really kicking up some mud with the TM.

On the Mattawoman from the Potomac to the start of the 6 mph zone can get choppy with Bass boats running back-and-forth during tournaments (look at the photo I posted), but I fished it for years out of a heavily loaded 14' Jon with me and a buddy - we had people stop by to ask if we were sinking :0 Ed & i got the plans for our Jon boat from Harry & Charley at B.A.S.S. ;) (anyone know what I'm talking about there????)

Up in the 6 MPH zone it's glass smooth if there's no wind. They use to quarry sand and gravel up there so there are areas of holes and uneven S&G bottom back in the pads, some REALLY good spawning grounds. There's wood stick-ups, blow-downs, back-waters, etc. up there.

I think you, Zoff & Sam need to come up for a Little recon before you put the Mattawoman/Potomac on your list. ;)

Can someone shoot me a PM and teach me how to do multi quotes in one post, there is something about that process that I can't wrap my mind around....

EDIT: Thanks Nitro, I don't know why I was beating my head on a wall over trying to use that "Multiquote" button ;)

Ya, we have Snakeheads, but the rule is "you catch it - you keep it" there is no catch-and-release for Snakeheads.

If you like, you can come down any Friday night after work, fish Sat & Sun, and then go home Sunday evening so your ready for work or school on Monday;

EDIT: you don't have to wait for the M&G13; and I'm open during the week, cause I'm retired :)

Same invite for Zoff, Nitro, Sam, & endless.
