Super User retiredbosn Posted September 26, 2012 Super User Posted September 26, 2012 After watching the videos and listening to the commentators, etc. The worse commentary I heard was from CBS radio yesterday at 3pm, how that call "handed" the win to Seattle. Sorry it did not hand the win to Seattle, the SeaHawks won the game period, go back erase all bad calls that would take away the TD from both teams and Seattle still wins, the won every stat including the score. The comish was on record yesterday that the ref made the correct call, it was simultaneous reception in which case the offense gets credited, however there was offensive pass interference before so that it should not have been ruled a touchdown. This guy should run for office!!! 1 Quote
Jake P Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 You obviously are forgetting the only TD drive by Greenbay was kept alive by not one, but two terrible ref calls. So take the two "gimmee" TD's away from both teams, and guess what? Seattle scored more than GB. And by your own admittance, that's a win. No sir.Even if the drive was kept alive by bad calls and that drive resulted in a TD, it was not the bad call for a TD that decided the game. You can say what if they had of those terrible calls that kept that drive alive were called correctly and GB never scored that TD? their gameplay would have changed. They wouldnt have called the same plays they did if they were losing. Anything could have happened. All you want to do is talk about how the refs helped GB and Seattle played better and I am agreeing with you 100%. But the FACT is that, that last play WAS NOT a TD and WAS an INT and that 1 single call directly decided the game. And it was wrong. Those bad calls that kept the drive alive did not end the game. Again I dont disagree with you man. Seattle did great. But they didnt earn the W. Plain and simple IMO. And thats all I was getting at. Either way it was an incorrect call and it needs to change. If the real refs were officiating then they would have called the Offensive pass interferance on Golden Taint and the game would have been over and all of this controversy would have been ovoided........The NFL is losing integrity. Jake P Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 Guys, i think we need an Official NLF thread good idea. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted September 26, 2012 Global Moderator Posted September 26, 2012 8 sacks and stout defense WON the game. It's the same stout defense that totally OWNED the Cowboys in last week's 27-7 pounding. They completely shut out Greenbay in the first half. Nobody has done that in years. The impressive final drive of the game was practically end-zone-to-end zone in less than 2 mins - orchestrated by a rookie quarterback no less. Sad that everyone loses those facts due to a controversial call. The game had many, of which both teams "benefited". The 'Hawks beat the Packers, DESPITE the bad calls. Exactly!! GO Bears!! Super User Gone_Phishin Posted September 27, 2012 Super User Posted September 27, 2012 Thank you, ever since green bay crapped on Favre they deserve all the losses. This may be the most ridiculous thing I have ever read on here. That prima donna tried to hold the franchise hostage, not the other way around. Quote
CoBass Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 The one thing I haven't heard mentioned anywhere is how stupid it was for Jennings to even attempt to catch that ball. As a defender in a hail Mary situation you are taught to knock the ball down, not try to intercept it. If Jennings had simply swatted the ball to the ground there would have been no way any Seattle player could have caught it. Plays like this are the exact reason you don't try to intercept the ball in the end zone on the last play of the half/game. It was a horrible call by the refs, but if Jennings had done what he was supposed to do, there wouldn't have been a call to be made. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted September 27, 2012 Super User Posted September 27, 2012 So, the "real refs" are returning to the field. That's too bad. All the hubbub about the replacement refs has been great entertainment. Quote

As a cowboys fan, I couldn't agree more. Seattle is for real, especially at home. They are big, they play very physical on both sides of the ball, and when they can run the ball on offense and pass when they want to, they are tough, REALLY tough. Wouldn't surprise me, based on the last two games, if Seattle won 10-11 games this year. Quote

How'd that work out for the Titans when they swatted the ball to the ground right into the hands of a Lions receiver and he scored a TD to tie the game? Quote
