Bad Weather..........gotta Love It !

Went offshore Saturday morning, 10-15 mph 3-4' waves with a drizzle after an all night rain. Looking toward the Bahamas a dark cell was approaching rather quick, the bite turns on. Bonita and kingfish everywhere as a torrential downpour starts with increased wind and waves, bouncing around in a 21' Polar wasn't easy to just keep your balance. We fished on with visibility probably measured more in inches than feet and caught our 4 king limit, plus a few bonita. Pics were impossible with the weather and my bontia was about the same as I posted last week, no need in posting another pic. The cell passes and we continue fishing, some more kings that we had to land without gaffing as we limited already. I never caught kings that hit the bait as hard as they did yesterday, usually it's a subtle bite. An hour later another cell worked it's way up from Miami, we headed in and I got to my car just as the heavy rain began. We had a similar day last year, heavy rain and tough weather and fish after fish with non stop action...........Bad weather, gotta love it for fish.

Just a little sidebar, I normally wear deck shoes, not wanting them to get soaking wet I wore a pair of crocs, they were just great on a wet fiberglass deck, no slipping at all.

I love fishing in that nasty weather. Fishing is usually pretty good and few if any other people on the water. Sounds like you had a couple fun days. I've got a pair of them ugly shoes for the exact same thing, or when I'm bank fishing and I know I'm going to be getting in the water or mud so I don't ruin my shoes.

Yea, I got caught in the downpour at the ballpark. My son had his 1st t-ball game, which got rained out.

. I too had some of my best days fshing in the istorm. Nothing wrong with fishing in the rain as long as you're catching fisf, and it appears you did very well.t

Opposite today, west wind, flat water, no fish. A pod of jacks came thu the inlet for about 10 seconds and I nailed one on a top lure. With all that water pouring thru the inlet the current was incredibly strong, this 2# jack (if that big) nearly out muscled me.

Are you saying tomorrow morning (Monday) probably isn't worth a trip to the jette? I was thinking about going.

Monday

North northeast winds 8 to 12 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas up to 5 feet. Dominant period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Isolated showers and thunderstorms.

Tide change is about 4:30, will be outgoing..........may be worth the trip to the inlet. Hopefully some groundswells, if that's the case snook should be present.

I did hear the bluefish were in town up at the Juno pier Saturday, given the weather I'm not surprised. I may run up there in the next day or 2, I do like that beach.
