pbrussell Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Went out to some small lakes today with a buddy. We whacked the snot out of them on squarebills and lipless cranks, but our trolling motor battery died due to high winds. We decided to do some bank fishing on a small pond. All of the floating moss had stacked on one side of the lake due to the wind. My buddy started catch 2-3 pounders on a frog pretty good so I tied one on. I missed my first fish, which felt like every bit of four pounds but ended up with this one a little later. I'll take that for my first frog fish Quote

pbrussell Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 Thanks fellas. I couldn't be much happier with the experience honestly. There was just something about how she kinda sucked that frog down. Then there was the holding my breath and the forever wait for the hook set. Rippin' the rod with 50lb braid and the fish not giving. And of course, there was the fight. She was a very strong swimmer. I think I understand why people like fishing these frog things. Quote

pbrussell Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 thought u lived in ks there isnt fish like that here lol nice fish man now really where did u catch it? Well, technically it was caught in missouri in the lees summit area. But yeah, I'm from kansas. I wish fish like this one were more common in our area. Quote
mikey5string Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 wow. what a pig! I LOVE frog fishing. Its my favorite way to fish bass in mid summer. The more slop the better. I have noticed that the biggest fish just seem to inhale the frogs from right under the surface. The big splashes and "out of the water" hits are great but its the "disappearing frog" ones that I live for. Quote
dam0007 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Nice fish man! What did that one end up weighing? Quote
