fishking247 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 3" floating rapala. Trout, bass, panfish. The most reliable and versatile lure I've ever used. it can be used as a topwater or sub surface and can be used all year long. With all the new lures out there we all seem to forget about the one that started it all! Quote
merc1997 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 if i could only fish one lure, it would be a jig hands down. bo Quote

Super User rockchalk06 Posted September 19, 2012 Super User Posted September 19, 2012 I have two. NSCB "mistake" swim jig with red flake tube and a beetle spin. They always produce. Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted September 20, 2012 Super User Posted September 20, 2012 Wacky rigged senko Mike X2 - I always start with something else/new, but when the going gets tough, this just flat out produces. Quote
greatone1210 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Lately it has been a jig but only in one body of water that I used to get skunked at almost everyday. Northstar Jig with Paca Chunk has netted me 7 LM in about 3.5 hrs of fishing. But any other time, might have to go with a KVD SK 1.5 in Black Back Chartreuse or a Rat-L-Trap in Silver. Quote
tholmes Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I love my Red Eye Shad But for some reason fish can not resist the Chrome/blue back 1/2 Rat-L-Trap. This lure alone will keep the skunk off most of the time unless it is dead winter. Might not be a LMB but SOMETHING will hit it! X2! It even does a pretty good job in the dead of winter. Although in colder temps, I switch to the 1/4 oz. or even the 1/8 oz. sizes. Tom Quote
TNBassin' Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 A black neon or red cherry seed worm always seem to produce for me. Quote
The Rooster Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 When all else fails a rooster tail will catch some sort of fish. I've caught small mouth, largemouth, spotted bass, crappie, catfish, and all sorts of pan fish on them. Me too! a rooster tail will always get me a fish (or 4) if i'm feeling a skunk. If just aiming for bass however, a wacky worm and some patience will do. Absolutely, hence my name!! I have a box full of these always on the boat. Probably more than most as I have at least $150 worth of them in it, just the Worden's original Roostertail only. Sizes 1/8, 1/6, 1/4, and 3/8. Used to fish the 1/16 sizes but only small panfish ever hit it. I got away from that size for that reason. I buy them in sets of three, same size and color. I either have extras for me when one gets lost or damaged, or for a buddy to use one and have a spare should either of us need it. I don't just resort to Roosters when other things don't work though. They are a mainstay in my arsenal and I normally keep a rod just for them with one tied on always. On any given trip I will put in at least 50 casts with a Rooster, sometimes the whole trip on that one bait type. Bass especially love the 1/8 size in glitter frog color. 1 Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted September 21, 2012 Super User Posted September 21, 2012 I have yet to find a bait that produces in ALL conditions. If I had to catch something on an artificial bait, an 1.5 or 2" grub on a light jig head would probably be my choice. If I had to catch a bass, a small weightless wacky Senko would likely be my choice. I rarely fish either of these since just catching something is not my goal. When I take the grandkids fishing and have to catch something to keep their interest, live crickets are my choice. Quote
mikey5string Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Shakey head. Specifically megastrike shake2. Some skirts of assorted colors and some assorted soft plastics. Quote
BASSHUNTER1961 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 As stated, there is NO bait that will produce in all conditions every time. If I had to choose the one that produces more fish in many different conditions, it would be the Fat Ika and the Senko a close second.... Quote
Bayoubassin8 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 On an overcast day I usually catch them on a netbait baby paca craw in green pumpkin Quote
