Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 15, 2012 Author Global Moderator Posted October 15, 2012 My wife makes pretty good potato salad. Put me down for that and I will bring some brats to. Perfect, I'll put you down and now have officially heard from everyone that I have down and it sounds like everyone is still in for this Saturday! Quote
AllDay Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 This was probably decided long ago - where are we meeting again? The marina? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 16, 2012 Author Global Moderator Posted October 16, 2012 This was probably decided long ago - where are we meeting again? The marina? The east ramp in Eisenhower State Park. It's pretty protected from the wind and some of the guys have the year pass for the state parks so at least all of us won't have to pay to launch. Plus there's some pretty good fishing close to the ramp for anyone that doesn't want to make the cold run in the morning. Quote

kylek Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Man... Saturday can't get here fast enough!!!!! I checked the weather again today... mostly sunny high of 73* with a SSW wind at 11mph. Quote

It'll be fairly easy to figure out who's who since I don't think many folks will be piling up on that ramp at that hour of the morning. Looks like the weather will behave with just SSW 11 mph winds. This will be fun no matter what the end result is. Quote
kylek Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Where are the best areas to concentrate on? We have never been to Melvern before and would like to actually catch some fish. Quote
retro basser Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Anyone staying at melvern saturday night and going out sunday too? I'm considering it.. Quote

If you just wanna make sure you catch some saturday fish the dam and you shouldn't be let down. They'll likely hit traps, cranks, buzzbaits in the morning and pick plastics up off of 8-10ft all day. There is a good amount of rock out there everywhere, but seems to me i remember some pebble/sand in the coves too Quote

I just found out that my father in law isn't going to be able to make it so I will be a one man show. Quote
kylek Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I will have an empty back seat in the Ranger if there are any last minute non-boaters or if there are any no shows. As long as they don't mind fishing a lake that I have never seen before!! I may need help loading and unloading the boat if someone is willing to help. I am NOT good at this part at all. Once it is in the water I know what to do. :-) Quote

kylek Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I'll help if you need it. Thanks!! I normally just back the trailer in and have only tried to load it back up a few times. I get it on there but it takes me a few times and is a little embarassing!!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 18, 2012 Author Global Moderator Posted October 18, 2012 I'm sure we can find someone to help. Shouldn't be too hard to unload and load it. Quote

pbrussell Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 And so the forecast finally begins to solidify. 8mph winds out of the south. Clear skies. 70 degree high. Low 40's around launch. Looks like it could be a tough bite. I smell ned rigs. Quote

pbrussell Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Just a heads up. I do not think I will be able to stay for dinner. I would love to hang out, but I have a puppy at home that will be in her kennel all day and I think my wife (and maybe my dog) will kill me if I stay any longer than I have to. Quote
kylek Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I'm sure the whites will I am good with that.. I would love to stay busy all day. Do you think they would bit a 3" or 5" grub? I have some Kalin grubs that I thought I would try along with the Ned rig. Quote
pbrussell Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 The whites wouldn't leave my silver grub with metallic flake alone last weekend. Quote
basshunter0731 Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Alright, I'll put you down and you'll be paired up with CCC Drew. He'll have some good spots he can point you guys towards after fishing with me last week, including one of my "secret" up the lake spots if he can remember exactly where it's at, maybe I should have blindfolded him Yeah, you guys were one of my main concerns about starting that early but I'm banking on the fish making it worth you guys getting up that early. I'll put you down for some bags of chips. Quote
