I caught this bass in early November 2010. I never measured it, weighed it, nothing. I had everything I needed to measure it, but I knew I needed to get it back in the water fast. It bugs me everytime I see the picture and not knowing really how big it was.

I'm not sure if it really helps, but we did get her on video with half good quality and half bad.

Skip to 0:40 for the main part of the video. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think 7 is a bit over zealous. I would put it in the 5 lb range! Good bass no matter what though!

Ok, I love this game :)

So detective in me (no, I'm not a police) says:

The cap's width is probable 7". On the picture the fish's length looks like about 2.9times the capt's width. So the fish's length is 7"x2.9 = 20.3"

Calculator ( https://www.bassresource.com/bassfishing/fishcalculator.html ) says:

4.2 lbs

But it looks more towards 5 to me.

Depending on how close or far the fish is held from the body is going to make the fish look smaller or bigger. Only problem I see is you are too far from the water for a quick release, unless you mounted or ate it.

Pick a weight or size in your mind, say 18in. and 4lb.14oz. Now add a couple of inches every year from now until your 18th. birthday and that's the story to stick with until you catch something bigger that what this formula says at the time. ;) At 15, I caught a 16in. smallie that grew to almost 20in. by the time I reached 18. My problem is I've never caught a smallie over 20in. and over 40yrs have gone by!!
