Hey guys,

Has anyone used this rod for an extended amount of time and knows how the quality standards are? I've read lots of reviews and there seems to be a problem with rod breakages within the Abu "V" line of rods.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm a college student with a limited budget and I'm trying to upgrade my gear to compete in the near future. Any accounts or guidance in which rods in the Abu line to buy would also be appreciated.

Best,

Alan

The Verdict I have heard of issues. But in the Vendetta and Veritas line, its not that common. I know a lot of people that use both and I'm the only one that has broken either of those. The Veritas because I did something stupid, but it took quite a bit of force to break. And the Vendetta was broken when a girl I took fishing caught her foot in the line and went to take a wide stride to the back deck of the boat.

I'm not sure if the Verdict has been fixed or not. Kind of what I'm waiting to hear about the Villain before I get one of those.

I just got a MH/F 7'1 Villain and I like it a lot. Its stiff like all the other abu rods I've used (I have two MH Veritas) but I feel like the tip is a little bit softer. Its light, fits in my hand comfortably, very sensitive, looks good with my Tournament SS on it, and handled a 6lb LM wonderfully the other day on a spinnerbait bite. Also, I like the reel seat and trigger grip more than the Veritas. Its just more comfortable after holding it for a long time in my opinion. Back to the OP. I don't think you can go wrong with the Veritas or the Villain so I would assume the Verdict would fall in the middle there and not be a bad rod either.

I would go with a Veritas. Light sensitive and durable.

The veritas is a great rod and if you have a problem it has a full warrenty. For 3 years?

Or is it 1 year?

3 years on a rod, 1 on a reel for abu garcia products

'preciate the feedback guys. Yea the Veritas has had better ratings. Hell, even the Vendetta has done better than the Verdict. I was just debating on whether or not to get the verdict or the villain. I haven't fished with any of them yet so I'm not sure about the sensitivity differences between the two levels, if there are any.

I have 7' M casting and 7' M spinning Vendettas and really like them.  I am just as interested in the Verdict because I'm curious about the adjustable handle.  I'll keep an eye on your thread here and add anything I might find.  Good luck with your choice.

I have a 6'6" Medium Verdict I've been using since last fall. The main reason I bought it is that the action is much more moderate the the other V rods. It's closer to a true medium. As far as the weight, to me it feels lighter that the Veritas. The adjustable handle is not that important to me, I just set it and left it. The guides are a little flexible, so if you buy one I'd be careful with it. Overall, I'd buy another.
