I've been thinking about getting the Owner Jig-Rig. The concept sounds great, but I see that the heaviest weight they come in is a 1/4 oz. They say that it's great for penetrating the weeds because of the way it falls, but will that small size still go through the mats??

Depends on the matted vegetation. Most often the weeds are just at the surface, and you just need to poke through. In milfoil beds up here, it works great.

Make your own.

EWG hook of your choice + a split ring + a drop shot weight = Bass Dude Rig.

Really easy and completely customizable.

I bought some of the Owner Jig Rigs and you can make your own but I find it easier to buy a pack and see if I like this type of rig.

So far, nothing. But it's learning process.

I caught one on my home made one with a fluke on it I only made maybe 10 casts and picked up a regular jig back up but I liked the action and presentation of the jig rig/bass dude rig/ jika rig.
