airborne_angler Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I recently picked up a White Strike King Bootlegger Jig. I was wondering what color and style bait would make a good trailer? I dont have any traditional trailers,I do have creature baits such as Baby Brush Hogs. Also since this jig has the rattle affixed to the shank of the hook, this means that the trailer is gonna hang off the bait and make the jig/trailer very long. Is this ok? Or should I shorten the trailer(alot) How successful are white jigs being they arent a very natural color as most are.? I would think they might be pretty good as in theory, the bait will stand out and catch the eye of the fish. Am I right? Ive never really tried jigs,so im just asking questions, perhaps Ill try it. Siebert Outdoors Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I typically throw a 4" single or twin tail grub with those. Zoom also makes some curled trailers that I cant think of the name of. I've stuck with the grubs though. Quote
Blade-Runner Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Zoom Superfluke Jr. White Pearl or Chartreuse Pearl. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted February 16, 2010 Super User Posted February 16, 2010 It depends on when, where and how I am going to fish it. If I am just swimming it I'll use a Zoom swim chunk in white. If I am bumping bottom with it at night during the light of the moon I'll use a twin tail in white or blue. If I am using it around submerged brush I want a big old white chunk so I can stop it and let it drop slowly for a foot or so. Quote
