What are your thoughts on the Mustad triple grip trebles? Do they compare favorably to the Owner stinger st-36 or the Gamaktsu trebles? The trebles have an interesting shape to them. Does this shape make them work better by weed growth as opposed to the standard trebles?

Wow, as a walleye tournament angler, i can tell you there is no better treble hook (except size 8 L374 eagle claw) than triple grips.  Now for bass you'll find the normal grips have too think of wire hook and bend too easily.  For bass i'd recommend the ultra point grips.  These hooks have better "holding %" meaning the fish simply stay hooked due to the shape of the hook.

P.S. to previous poster, wanna send me some triple grips?? :)

The Triple Grips bend too easily.

Pick up some Gamakatsu EWG's.......same concept, stronger wire.  I love these hooks.

Owner Stingers are awesome hooks as well, but I think the Gamakatsu EWG's have the advantage in the "stick and hold" department.

I once caught a 12# carp that I snagged on top of the head using Triple Grips. And many bass that didn't quite have the hook in the mouth came to the boat as well.

Slipknot6, send me a PM with your mailing address and I'll send you all I have left that I haven't throw away. I think most of them are size 6.

I don't fish for walleyes. I heard they taste good.

When the Triple-Grips first came out, I received a couple of boxes of them to test (was outdoor writing at the time).  I swapped them out on a few cranks and went after those good ol' Lake Erie smallies :)  Those fish absolutely WRECKED those trebles.  I was lucky to get more than one fish to a hook.  One looked like a pretzel when I got the fish to the boat.  I gave the rest of them away and haven't used them since.  Whether or not they've improved since then I can't say.

I use alot of them on my cranks.  I mostly use the nickle triple grips instead of the bronze ones.

The gamies are great hooks too.  I prefer this style bend over standard hooks on some cranks.

Interesting. Well for $5 for a pack of them I will give them a try. I will post my results later in the year when I'm able to fish again.

I have them on about a dozen cranks, and I've never had a problem with them. In fact, when I stick a fish, they don't ever come un-buttoned.

I bought some triple grips to replace some dull hooks on my cranks and they have held up very well. I would get them again.

I put them on all my Snook lures and they work great.   Snook fight a whole lot harder than bass, especially after landed.   Never had a problem with them and they give the better hook ratio on super spook jr.s than any other hook I found.   Only mustad hook I'll use.

So received the package of trebles and they seem to be light wire hooks and very sharp. They are definitely quality. The one knock on them is the ones I purchased seem to have a very long shank compared to the stinger hooks. Next time around I will have to make sure I get the short shank ones. The new KVD Elite short shank trebles look to fit the bill perfectly.

Those came on a floating Rat L Trap I bought last year.

First cast in a tourney this past year I hooked up with about a 3lber.  It came off.

Couple more casts, another keeper.....

you guessed it..  >:o

I don't use them anymore.

I had a bandit 200 that had mustad triple grips on. I caught a few fish on that crankbait and that's why I was looking to use them on other cranks.
