Tlaz Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Went fishing on Saturday at Pine River Pond in NH. Had 4 rods ready to go. Crankbait, jerk bait, Senko and a drop-shot rig with a rage tail worm. It was a fairly windy day and mostly cloudy. My brothers like to give me a hard time about all my gear. As soon as one of them laughed about trying a drop -shot ( which I never try ) I hooked up with a 2.5 lb LM. from then on, I never put down that rod and caught about 20 bass to their 10 combined total for the day. Of course I got the last laugh. I think I found a new favorite technique. Ive never caught that many fish in one day. I plan on using the drop-shot frequently now. Anyone else like using the drop-shot? Tom 1 Quote
5dollarsplash Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Just caught my first on it last weekend. I've made it a point this year to work on new techniques, and this has been one of the hardest for me to commit on. I'm not one for much dead-sticking, but there is no arguing it produces (18" 3lber on a blustery day). As the fall bite pics up I may move away from it, but if the bite gets slow I will have a rig set up in the boat ready to go. Quote
mod479 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I hate using it, catch wayyyy too many fish on that sissy rig. In all honesty, I caught my PB on a dropshot. Always got one rigged up with a floating/finesse worm. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 11, 2012 Super User Posted September 11, 2012 Congrats on your big day! That's awesome. I personally don't drop shot very often, if ever. Just not my cup-o-tea, but it certainly is an effective presentation. Next time take some pics of those pigs and show them off! What were you using on the drop shot? Quote
mikey5string Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I like the concept of the rig but I usually only catch small fish with it. Also I dont have a fish finder so setting the rig to the right depth becomes a guessing game. When the fishing is really slow I can almost always catch one with a drop shot. Again, theyre all dinks but at least I got somethin! Quote
Tlaz Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Hey Mark I was using a rage tail worm on the rig until I ran out. Then had a green cut tail worm. Didn't seem to matter what I had on there really. Quote
TNBassin' Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I bought the hooks and weights to use the drop shot, but have yet to try it out. I have no idea why either, since I'm sure it's gonna produce. Quote
HeavyDluxe Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Not to threadjack, but I'm interested in hearing whether any of you have tried dropshotting from shore. I'm pretty interested in the approach, but just can't bring myself to try it from the bank. Quote
gallowaypt Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I have the same question as heavy delux. Also, can anyone give me rigging directions/pics please? I can't ever get the hook to stay perpendicular to the line like it's supposed to. Quote
