I'm looking for a swim jig that I can cast at cover, hop a few times and swim back to the boat and also..

1. Has a good sharp, appropriately sized hook (3/8oz weight).

2. A tough skirt that swims well.

3. Is NOT a northstar jig! (I already get it, they're great, and I'm saving up money to do a large order)

Bonus Points if it doesn't break the bank!

Mann's stone Jigs. I don't know the science behind it, but they seem to just catch fish.

For what you described, the NorthStar Flip & Swim is EXACTLY what you want, so when you do put in your order make sure to get these.

Noted and noted. Now you just walked out of (insert large box fishing store ) and opted for the next best thing, in your bag is-----?

Nevermind, I need to read more carefully. "Swim jig". I make my own so I got nothing for you.

If NSCB never existed, I would be using Strike King Swim Jigs. Lucky for me NSCB DOES exist!

the Strike King Hack Attack jig, hands down. I make my own jigs and have a few dozen Northstars, but i still prefer my Hack Attack jigs over all my other jigs. It has a great head for going through cover and the hook they use is a beast. I have yet to try the Hack Attack swim jig, but the original Hack Attack is the real deal. I use it every way possible, iv punched through vegetation, flipped laydowns and docks, swim through lilly pads, crawled over rocks all with the same exact jig.

OP, I'd recommend Dominic's (backwater4) jigs. That's all I use anyway. He did custom skirts for me too. I don't know much about the skirts, except that they look good and catch fish. They are wire-tied, and the paint on the heads seems to last a pretty long time.

I bought about 25 jigs from him this year, ordering twice; average cost per jig was around $2.20 I think, including shipping.

P.S. I'm not sponsored by him, or anyone else for that matter. I just like to talk about, and put a good word in, for the products that I use, like, and catch bass on.

+1 more for Strike King. They should be at pretty much any store that has any kind of fishing department worth mentioning and definitely not too expensive if you're just looking to tie you over till your northstar order.

I highly recommend the Lethal Weapon series of swim jigs. They have two models, the classic Lethal Weapon II and the new Lethal Weapon III Living Rubber Swim Jig. The II's feature a sticky sharp Owner hook and the skirts are hand-tied and extremely durable. The III's (which are new for 2012 and I have fallen in love with) feature a more streamlined head design than the II's and come through weeds very well. The weedguards on both are soft and seem to contain just the perfect amount of bristles (no need to doctor your weedguard, which I have seemed to do with a lot of the other popular swim jigs out there - most are just TOO THICK), and the jig swims more straight and true than any other jig I've tried. Don't get me wrong - I like Northstar's and Dirty Jig's very much (and appreciate that like Lethal Weapon-they are based out of the upper Midwest) but LW's have been my go-to for the last 6 years and that ain't changin'!

If I had to buy from a store, I don't even know what I'd buy.

I get ALL of my jigs from GMAN.
