hey guys!

so i just bought a brand new st.croix spinnerbait/lipless crank rod and i was just wondering what reel you guys would pair it with in a reasonable price range and what ratio.

thanks!!

I'm not one to recommend any brand in particular, but I'd stick with a quality brand on this one as your reel will really be getting a workout. As far as gear ratio, I would recommend a 6.3:1. It's fast enough for both applications and not so fast that you hve to drastically change your cranking speed to slow down when you want to.

Citica, Curado, Chronarch?

STX, SX or S ;)

Any of the reels listed so far would make great additions.

hate to say it, but of the above that is my vote... I have a 6.4(i think ?) carbonlite, i put it to the grind this summer, great reel for a bps.

I have an Abu Garcia revo sx and a shimano chronarch. I love them both and they were within 30$ of each other. The revo casts farther and has twice the drag of the shimano and is just as smooth, but the shimano is a bit smaller profile and more comfortable. I have the shimano paired to a st croix triumph and the Abu is paired with a Berkeley lightening rod.

Zillion, Fuego, Lews TP, Chronarch 100B

EDIT: Remember, 'reasonable price' is relative. There will be some suggesting a Steez, Core, etc.

revo winch- the gen 3 are out so you can get the gen 2 for a really good price. I picked up one over the holiday for 135. I love this reel. it cast really well and far. best for cranking. however if you ever need to you can flip and pitch with it too, its stronge reel. many people we think it just for cranking but its not. its funny, i find myself want to through cranking more because i like the reel so much

I wont hold it against you. But do it again, and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron. Let me ask you, does your mother sew? BOOM, get her to sew that! Lol.

If you can still find them, the Quantum Accurists Pt have plenty of bang for the buck. Got both of mine on Ebay for $50 each. Smooth and functions very well. Not a cheap feel in the hand. Retailed for about $120 when they were still in production.

Curado or Tournament Speed Spool. I got both in 6.x:1 and its hard to pick a favorite between the two.

Like I said, go with a quality reel. Check out the auction sites, I picked up a TDA153HST for $60. Added ABE7 bearings and Carbonlite drag washers for under $20. Sometimes you can luck out and step up a little for the same cash as retail.

There is a Daiwa Fuego for sale on another site for $115. This was originally a $250 reel. I have 3, and think they are very good reels. Would have already picked this one up myself, but have made a few purchases lately so I need to scale back for a bit. :cry4:

EDIT: It is LH if that makes a difference.
