ib_of_the_damned Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I'm interested in an Abu Garcia Vengeance 7'6" Heavy. Have anyone had any experience with this model? Also I wanted to use it as a frog rod, pitching rod, and light swimbait rod. Would it be able to handle a 6" Weedless Hudd ROF5? Thanks in advance! Quote
BASSHUNTER1961 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 The Abu's are pretty darn stout and are normally a power heavier than marked, I'll make a suggestion on my experience. Check out the Daiwa Jupiter at Walmart. I have 3 now and they are fast becoming my favorite rods. I have 2 7'6" H both are telescopic, and one 6'6"MH... I use mine foe froggin in some nasty pads and have no problem pulling some big fish out with the 7'6"H. They are really light and have great feel and sensitivity. They run $59.00 can't go wrong. The Sellus by Shimano is also an option, but I like the Daiwa much better. Quote
TNBassin' Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 The abu vendetta rods are on sale for $50-$60 at most places. I'd skip the vengeance and get a vendetta. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted September 9, 2012 Super User Posted September 9, 2012 id skip the vengeance and vendetta and get a veritas even they can be be had cheap most places Quote
ib_of_the_damned Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 Thanks for the suggestions, I am actually on a budget (as with most of us...) and I don't want to be spending a bunch of money on a rod that I will not be using heavily. I am about in the range of 50-80, I have also looked at the Powell Diesel 7'6" MH 1/4-1 1/2oz. on TW and that rod looks pretty promising too. I would rather go cheaper with the Vengeance, but if it is a POS then I'll shell out the extra $20 and get a Diesel. Would the Vengeance or Diesel be able to handle a 6" Weedless Huddleston ROF5? I am actually looking for a rod within by budget that is not a swimbait stick (already have a decent one) that can toss frogs, jigs, and light swimbaits. Thanks again! Quote
Dave P Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 I would shell out the extra $20. I have one of each type (Vengeance and Diesel). I will buy more Diesels, let me put it that way. My 2 cents. Quote
jj'sbassinforfun Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 The Vengeance has been a good value for me. My 7' 6" heavy has been very tough in the weeds and second duty is rangling pike. No issues at all. My sone owns one(6'6" Med Hvy) as well and for the $49.99(less 15% TW discount) were both happy. The 7' 6" heavy is a dandy heavy rig/jig rod. I also throw CR and TR rigged worms with it. For Pike its duty is big spinners, swimbaits and heavy plugs. My sons 6'6" Med Hvy handles medium jigs, CR and TR rigged worms up to an ounce pretty well. Its also his frog rod. Quote
TNBassin' Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 $80 gets u a veritas. $50-$60 gets u a vendetta. Best bang for the buck IMO. Quote
