EvanT123 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I love my flukes and I know some guys throw them on spinning gear but I prefer casting. I'm looking for a quality fluke rod for a100 bucks. I'm open to any suggestions. But right now looking at a 6'6 or 7 ft med mojo bass am I on the right track? Quote
zachb34 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I use a 6'6 st.croix premier medium heavy fast with a curado 50e Quote
BASSHUNTER1961 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I would go with the Premier over the Mojo for the extra $10.00 The Premier is a much higher quality rod that the Mojo. I like a 7' MF for flukes. Quote
rangerjockey Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I just throw them on my stick bait rod. The Denali murphy signature, but thats over your budget.. You could look at the Jadewood 783, would make a good fluke rod and work for other applications as well.. I always thought the mojo and premier used the same blank (scii).. If I recall correctly the mojo is assembled in Mexico. Quote
zachb34 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 They use the same graphite built on a different blank and I'm pretty sure only the mojo is made in Mexico Quote
buzzfrog Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 i use a MH 6'6, though i use spinning.. though BC might be better Quote
ToledoEF Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 For flukes i use either a 7' medium fast spinnung rod or a mh casting rod. All of which are dobyns Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 10, 2012 Super User Posted September 10, 2012 I prefer spinning but i would go with a M XF rod for that application. THe XF seems to really help with the action more so than a fast does. I think the mojo comes in a 6'8" MXF which would suit your needs pretty well. Quote
EvanT123 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 I use spinning for the mini flukes. Had a rod with extra fast action and it was ripping the hook out of the nose and fluke. Got a 7' m fast mojo bass problem solved. Thanks for all the advise. Quote
skeletor6 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 The premier is worth the extra money over the mojo IMHO. I also agree with a MXF rod. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted September 10, 2012 Super User Posted September 10, 2012 My dedicated Fluke rod is a Powell 682c 6'8" M/XF. Couldn't ask for a more perfect rod. Powell's do cost about 140 for 7' and under, but if you can squeeze out 40 more dollars, there is absolutely no better rod for under 2 bones Quote
