Bass Slayer 72 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I've heard you sing, mod, and it might explain those times you are fishing alone and not getting any bites. Not sure, just saying. Ha, I don’t sing to my lures, but when I’m fishing with my oldest boy 15yrs it’s always a competition, so after I catch a fish and if he hasn’t yet, then I start singing about how awesome I am, or what great fishermen I am, I’ll sing oh where, oh where is Brandon’s fish. He just smiles but I can tell sometimes he wants to throw me over board…..LOL Quote
Olebiker Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 After practicing all day for a tournament without catching anything I am prone to say, "Well, I eliminated a lot of water today." 2 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted October 9, 2012 Super User Posted October 9, 2012 I have either heard these or spoken them over the years "Where are my pliers" "My trailers gone" "He's off" "A swing and a miss" "Ouch" "You've cast across my line" "didn't see that tree branch sticking out over the water" "Watch out for stumps in the water so we don't hit one with the boat" "I told you to watch out for stumps in the water" Quote
SAC2 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 not sure if this one has been said but i say it to my buddy after he misses a bunch of bites "hey are you sure you put hooks on that thing?' another one i say often when fishing with people that dont put much time in on the water is that "its not the size of the bait, its the angle of the dangle" Quote
Mumpy Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 SON! Did you see that cast? Peyton Manning throw bro, Peyton Manning throw Then I follow it up with an ESPN tune.... Da Na Na.... Da Na Na 1 Quote

piscicidal Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 "Man you got a fat sack!" That one gets some strange looks from the wife. Quote

loodkop Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Ever thought about the things no self respecting basser would ever say? I will start. "Man I wish this boat was a bit slower." "No thanks, I don't need another rod/reel/lureggadget." "I am not going fishing this weekend. I am taking my signifcant other shopping at that new mall." Quote

coryn h. fishowl Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 "If you think that was big, then you shoulda seen the one I lost." Lets see...general terms... hawg, toad, monster, bing one, slaunch, lunker, hog, basically everything but the word bass, and my personal favorite, "kraken" Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 "Get the net this thing is a monster"---- turns out to be a 2 lber "Man that could have been a record"----a nice fish breaks the line. "Cant catch them if your lure isn't in the water" When I run into other fisherman on the water the conversation is always very similar. " Hows the fishing ?" "slow" "Are you getting any" "a few nothing huge." (huge to me is over 7 or 8 lbs) "what are you using ?" "A lure" "Oh yeah. Just got it at walmart. Its called a spinner." ---- As I toss out a jig or crankbait.... On occasion I do give out helpful info to people fishing with kids, haven't caught anything all day or if they seem to be polite. Generally though most people are fishing for information. Quote
Stork Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 When I get bit I like to say, "Think I got snagged on a fish face." and "Cue the banjo!" 1 Quote
registered Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 This one always catches me fish. I've caught more fish on this than anything else. I need a faster boat. Quote
Weld's Largemouth Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 When i'm fishing with my friend and its time to head home... Friend : I think its time to call it a day.... bite's dead for the night. Me : Wait, let me take another cast. 5 minutes later Friend : Ok, nothing's happening we gotta go now. Me : Ugh! We each get three more casts okay?! Friend : Ha, fine. 1 cast later Me: Okay, so if you catch a fish, any fish, you get an extra cast! Friend : *laughs* 2 casts later Friend : Okay three casts are over, time to go! Me : Let me reel this in.... *reels slowly* 1 minute later Friend : Ok, we had a productive day, got some nice fish, but i'm worn out. *Friend begins to pack up tackle box* Me : Just give me one more cast for good luck... *quickly takes another cast* Friend : ugh c'mon man Me : Hold on, you never know if the fish is gonna take it or not.... 1 minute later Me : Okay, i'm done Friend : Let's go *We start to walk away from the pond* *I quickly take another cast* Friend : Come on! We're going! Me : I need to catch something before i leeeave! Friend : We've fished this spot all day, the bass need a rest! Me : .. I think i just felt a bite! *Lets lure sit out in water* 30 seconds later Friend : Ok it wasnt a fish, just a snag or something... Me : Okay, i'm leaving now lets go.... 1 Quote
SudburyBasser Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 "Man, it was a tough bite out there today..." I think I say this when I placed not so well and also won tournaments. Quote
CayMar Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Me and my buddy are always trying to one up each other, so when we hook up its like, " Ooooh man I think its two ton Tessy! Aww yea she is big, no man dont run over here its just another dink". Quote
ColdSVT Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I would most likely get banned if I were to quote my boat phrases...however I do have one G rated one " you can't tell me there isn't a fish in there...ya can't!" And even with that one I usually weave some of my favorite four letter words into lol Quote
GaterB Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Ya GOTTA be kidding me... Very versatile, good for backlash, spooking fish, missing hooksets, casts that land in a tree, etc... Quote
ColdSVT Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 My other famous one. If a fish is lost without being seen it is always a dunk...even if she takes 50yrs of drag in .5 seconds and has your rod on the cusp of fracture!. If I didn't see it she was a dink! Quote
bassguytom Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 When not catching fish in an area " it sure looks fishey here" When not catching fish in an area " where the heck did they all go?" When fishing with my brother " man you and those dinks are on a first name basis" Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 16, 2014 Super User Posted January 16, 2014 "THERE she is!.......There she isn't" "Should've been here yesterday" was a saltwater cliche from the 70s. When I miss 2 or more bass, I'll tell my wife, "They're really not feeding today" Roger 1 Quote
