I guess it depends on what you are planning to use the rod for. For the techniques that most folks would use a 3-power rod for - I would think you want the 100. The size is still manageable unless you have very small hands and it has better spool capacity for heavier weight lines.

I have the Conquest 50 - it is a delight to palm (for a round reel) but is really more a "finesse" type of reel with a line capacity of only 80yds of 10 pound line. I have 8lb on it right now and have run 6. However, if you wanted to run 12 or 14lb test on that 50-size reel, I think you would be really capacity-limited, even for bass fishing...

"Baluga" fishes the Conquest 100 (in the salt no less!) and may come along with his advice.

Here you go. The 50 is on the bottom & the 100 on the top. 50 is 6.2:1 ratio & the 100 is 5.8:1. 50 weighs 205 g & the 100 weighs 225 g. 50 holds 80y of 10lb & the 100 holds 135y of 10lb .

Hmmmm - I think I need a similar matched set..... ;)

It's a sweet pair. :respect-059:

With 843C I would go with Conquest 100.

I pair mine with 783C GLX and another one with 6'6" H Phenix UMBX. For the size 50XT I pair it with 6'3 H Cumara reaction for topwater.

U-40 cork seal. Apply it to a new rod or clean a dirty cork then apply after drying. Cabela's sells it and so rod builder retailers.

What DH said !

You can use Magic Eraser to clean the cork handle before applying U-40 if the cork has stain on it. U-40 is a one time application unless you sand it lightly and re-apply it.
