Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 8, 2012 Global Moderator Posted September 8, 2012 hello forum! so the other day i was on one of my favorite lakes and i decided to throw a buzz bait for the first time in clear water.... KIlled it! i was using a bps buzz bait. so anyway i want to learn more about these baits like: when to fish them-low light conditions tend to be best where to fish them-shallower water, around cover is a plus but they're great for covering big flats. what colors work in clear water-White and black are pretty much the only colors I ever use except for clear/silver sparkle in superclear water. and baits you would reccomend-Cavitron and also if you would choose a lure such as a pop-r over a buzz bait and why-Poppers are better for fishing specific pieces of cover or for fish that aren't as willing to chase. Buzzbaits are great for covering water and getting a reaction bite. thanks! 2 Quote

NBR Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 While I agree with BB86 the best trip I have ever had with buzzbaits was on a dead still, August day in the early after noon. A hot and not a cloud in the sky day. As we passed a shallow spot with some arrow weeds for some rason we slowed, put on a buzz bait and immediately started to catch fish. The big secret was bumpig the buzzer into one of the arrow weed stalks. We must have caught 20 or more. From time to time we caught other fish there but never like that. While we make decisions about bass activity the bass don't follow our rules. Quote
Super User Marty Posted September 8, 2012 Super User Posted September 8, 2012 Buzzbaits are good for covering a lot of water and using in some moderate weeds where treble hooks can't be used. One advantage of a popper is that by popping it, but for short distances, you can keep it in a relatively small area (like where you think a fish is ) for a longer period of time. With buzzers I'm not overly concerned with color or brand, although I do use one particular brand and style from force of habit because I've used them for a long time. Quote
