I'm about to snell a dozen or so gammy hooks, when i realised i have quite a few different options here for leader material. I'm making about an 18", and have braid, floro, mono, and polymers as options. Which to use and why? Thanks! (a large percentage of these hooks will be used with live baits. Shiners, minnows, nightcrawlers, etc.)

I don't really understand the concept.

What is the purpose or advantage?

I have different lines available, mono, floro, braid to cut into 18" pieces for snelling the hooks to. I was wondering what type line is best, if there are any advantages.

I can't read Road Warrior's mind, but he might be asking what is the purpose of snelling a hook. They're widely used but I never figured out the purpose or advantage.

I use them to make trolling rigs for salmon fishing and such because beads and clevises will damage a knot unless a snelled hook is used.  They also work well if you need a bait loop for roe or shrimp.  I dont see any reason to use snelled hooks for bass fishing though. :-?

Alton Jones was on a recent TV show on Lake Falcon where he showed the advantage of using a snelled hook with a TR Yum Dinger..can't remember the show might have been a day on the lake. He rigged it with the eye of the hook out of the Dinger

I like a snelled hook for something similar to a Yum dinger, yes. I also like to use snelled when trolling a crank for walleye, and the above mentioned salmon.
