Super User retiredbosn Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 Doing some organizing today and I must admit that I have a problem. I have a crankbait problem, I have 16 square bills, 14 lipless, 12 round bill shallow runners, 10 medium, and 12 deep divers, this doesn't include poppers, sammy type baits, etc. Do I seriously need 64+ crankbaits?????? Quote
Arv Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Probably not. Send the ones you don't need to me. I'll take em free of charge 3 Quote
Bass Dude Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Yes...you need that many!!! You should have at least 30 of every style, brand, running depth and color!!! 4 Quote
38 Super Fan Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Heck, I think I've got close to 50, and I haven't even thrown a crank in months. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 Bass Dude Is very wise. 1 Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 I've got that many in lipless alone. I'm afraid to count my totals. Years of collecting and buying them on sale will do that to ya. 1 Quote
5dollarsplash Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I could take 3 3700 boxes out of my bag worth of them, and like above I haven't thrown one in over a month. Quote
riskkid 2 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Why is your collection so limited??? 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 That's a start. I have six or seven boxes of them. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 I carry around 150 with me and that's still not enough, I keep trying to add more to my bag Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted September 7, 2012 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2012 I feel better now, I'm thinking about converting my tackle box to a set of rolling luggage 1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 Cranks have got to be my least favorite way to fish! They definitely can put fish in the boat but what a grind. 1 Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 I have like half a plano box of them. Maybe 15 or so. Cranks are one of my favorite baits, but the cost sucks on them. I was fishing with Ok Bass Hunter this week and that dude has like 6 boxes stuff full of them. I think its time to get more stuff Quote
Kevinator1 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I've got way too many. I probably have at least 75 still in the original packages. Why, I don't know. Probably have over 150 total. Still have some old Bagleys and the old Poes too. Quote
buzzfrog Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Welp i have about 50, mostly 1.5 and 2.5s now i got boat, probably getting alot more,I dont loose alot when i was on shore., so i am sure i will be loosing a few more, plus gotta get some that go past 5 feet. lol Quote
KevO Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I counted mine this spring I've got 5 boxes with more than 300 different cranks. 1 Quote
Silas Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Let's also have a sub category for CUSTOM HAND MADE CRANKBAITS! I have 15 of those! And I much prefer to use them instead of the factory made ones.....of course, when I lose one, it's very hard to take. But....you can't beat it for a CONFIDENCE BAIT! Something that cost that much must be a real fish catcher! If you don't catch fish on it, it's YOUR fault, not the bait's. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 7, 2012 Super User Posted September 7, 2012 You NEVER - EVER have enough crankbaits. You need to keep your favorites separate and use them in tournaments and places where you know you will not lose them. You need to take all the others and use them everywhere. No go out and buy some more. Quote
KDW96 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Admitting we can all here them all speaking to us many isles away, leads us to adopting them because of the way they look at us.Helpless, trapped in packaging, etc. We all try to help some by bringin them home, but soon return to help those left behind. We all must do our part to insure they have a nice place to live..... 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 8, 2012 Super User Posted September 8, 2012 I remember when I only had a handfull, then that grew, now I have 300, and thats down from last year since I weeded out all the ones I never use. Stike King and Spro are like crack to me LOL, and the fish don't mind them either. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 8, 2012 Global Moderator Posted September 8, 2012 I carry 3-6 3700 boxes of hardbaits in the boat with me every trip, then there's the the 7-9 3700 boxes of backups or spares at home and dozens of baits still in the packages in totes. You can never have to many. After all, they don't expire or go bad or anything Quote
TNBassin' Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I own 22, but I'm having a hard time deciding between some SK RES, Xcalibur XR50s, or the Academy Rattlin Ts. Plus if I buy any more, I will have to buy more storage too. I need a sugar mama. Quote

Plus if I buy any more, I will have to buy more storage too. I need a sugar mama. not to go OT, but to me the H20 line is sweet, I have alot of cranks, and stickbaits( the sammy looking one) I am pretty sure they use VMC hooks aswell, same as Rapala, without the sure set crap... on a side note, Hickory's Acadomy is T-6 days till openig, that is 2, miles away from me.. I mean do you know how hard it is having my collage beside it... and an hour break between 2 classes.. I will be hearing them whisper to me... plus it has been painstakingly slow going to class, watching them slowly put it together... lol, back to your discussion. Quote
TrippyJai Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Last year I had over 100+ baits and the only crankbaits I threw and had success with were lipless crankbaits. This year was better for me because I actually took the time to learn how to fish a lipped crankbait, but then I lost so many I ended up restocking for more than I originally had. I also bought a lure retreiver, but I'm not sure how well they work fishing from shore. Quote
