SO I have a smaller pfleuger supreme spinning reel that I have been wanting to put on a rod. I found a Loomis IMX SJR 721 for a deal I could not pass up. My question is what applications would you recommend using it for? And does anyone have any input on this rod?

I love drop-shotting so I was thinking of using it with light line and dropshotting 1/16-1/4 oz Dropshots or shaky heads with the same weights.

Any input?

Not exactly but pretty close, in fact I just got in from using it and caught about 10 bass. I've got a light Redbone 6'6", 4-10 line wt. with a supreme 25 on it. I fish this combo maybe 90% of the time with a top popper ..............it's a killer and lot fun. Personally I would not use it with anything but exposed hooks, have to set the hook harder than I care to with a t-rig. Braid and a light flick wrist, seldom do I not hook them real well.

I use a rod with similar ratings for throwing 1 1/16-1/8 oz spro hair jigs in open water. Not bottom dragging, but retrieveing at a pretty quick pace shaking the rod tip. Other than that it i use it in the creeks for throwing beetle spins and such. I keep it spooled with braid in case I hook into something with shoulders.

Think it'll be good for open water dropshotting? With the gammy dropshot hooks all you need is pressure on the line and the fish are hooked perfectly every time
