GoTakeANap Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 We have a full moon here tonight. I plan on getting up in the morning to go fishing. Will the full moon mess up fishing for me in the morning or should I wait till tomorrow afternoon? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 2, 2012 Global Moderator Posted September 2, 2012 I have very rarely had good success during a full moon but I know a couple days before and after are supposed to be some of the best times to catch a big fish. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 2, 2012 Super User Posted September 2, 2012 If I waited for the perfect time to go fishing I'd never get out of the house. I do fish 7 days a week, every single morning and just take it as it comes, my better success would be new vs full. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 2, 2012 Super User Posted September 2, 2012 Supposedly the best fishing is four days before and four days after the full moon. Friday was the blue moon, the second full moon in August. Today is the second day after the full moon. We'll see how it goes... Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted September 2, 2012 Super User Posted September 2, 2012 I prefer to fish at night when the moon is bright. I fished M, T, W, and TH nights. The bite was very good but Th is was too windy to hold on any of my good spots so I didn't do so well. We had lots of wind and rain F and S so I stayed home. Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Caught my PB yesterday, between 8 and 9 pounds. Me and my dad have seen the big mommas raoming around latley. Maybe it's just coincidence but I think not. Quote

Maybe it's just coincidence but I think not. I like to believe the big girls are more active in the 5 or 6 days around the full moon. I've been keeping pretty good records for 30 something years and I've had my best lunker days during this timeframe. If a front is moving in, then the quality of the fishing goes up exponentially. Super User WRB Posted September 2, 2012 Super User Posted September 2, 2012 Thie lunar effects of bass feeding activities is primarily at night during the summer period, minor effect during the day light. The full moon period or 2 days before and after have a major affect during pre spawn and spawn periods. I haven't experienced full moons increasing feeding activity any other seasonal period, except as noted during summer nights. If you are fishing tidal influences water, then the moon can have a direct effect on tidal feeding activity. Tom Quote
