Revo_Carrot Stix Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I'm not a big fan of wally-world, but you may check your local Walmart. It probably varies at locations, but the Walmarts in Kansas City are getting rid of the Strike King Rage Tail line ($3), SK Red Eye Shads ($3.50), T2 and SK Spinnerbaits ($2.50), various Rapapla crankbaits ($5), Mann's Baby Minus cranks ($2.50), Mepp's and Blue Fox inline spinners, and some Gulp and Culprit soft plastics. Super User Goose52 Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 My Walmart is clearancing some of those, as well as Norman and Bandit cranks. I got a Mepps and a Norman but they were already sold out of the Bandits that I like (200 in rootbeer). I will check to see what's left on our next trip to town next week. Also, my Walmart is not clearancing any Rapalas - they actually expanded the Rapala selection now that they have more rack space with the Normans and Bandits gone. Quote
Stasher1 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 It does vary from one location to the next. I have 6 or 7 WMs within 20 minutes of my house, and they all clearance different things at different times. Even the inventory they stock varies slightly from store to store. Out of the 6/7 stores in my area, only one stocks reels over $50. Best thing to do, if you have the time, is hit them all every few weeks. When I was unemployed, I hit every one of them on a fairly regular basis and loaded up. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 The stores where I live would have no idea what you are talking about. All they sell are coastal hooks, rigging, and a few of the huge saltwater rods and reels that weigh close to ten pounds a piece. Quote
tholmes Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 My local wally world cleared out the SK Red Eye Shads for $1 Ea. They also had some Lake Fork magic shad swimbaits for $1/ pkg. They are sold out of both items ;D Tom Quote

I swear the ones around here are staffed by people who are either deaf or don't understand English. I just run in and head straight to the clearance section. If there's nothing good, I leave as quickly as I arrived. I do the same thing at Sports Authority. If it's not in the clearance bin, I'm not buying it. ;D Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 I shop Dick's the same way. Inventory varies by store, as does clearance items. One in particular has all of their Excalibur branded (Bomber) hard baits for $2.97 ea. The Wally Worlds in my area suck eggs as far as fishing inventory. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 Snowed in here in Richmond, Virginia but will go by and check 'em out. Thanks for the tip. Quote
s13john Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 hey sam don't go to the one in midlo they've had the same stuff on clearance for like 5months. Dicks had some rapala's on clearance but they were still like 5 bux a pop. once the snow clears head out my way got to the trading post in cumberland hes got a bunch of stuff and last i checked all the fishing was 25% off. JKarbo214 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I just got back from our local Wal-Mart. There was a ton of bass fishing stuff on clearance. I picked up a Rapala Husky Jerk for $5, a yellow Arbogast Jitterbug for $2.75, 3 different Strike King Spinnerbaits for $2.50 each, a Cotton Cordell Lipless Crankbait for $1.99, a Z-man Original Chatterbait for $3.50, and a pair of Berkley Fishing Sunglasses for $8. Can't beat those deals! Quote
TennesseeShad Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Here in Memphis they had Bandit and Norman Crankbaits on clearance. Bought several 100's, 200's, 300's as well as DD14 and DD22's for 3 bucks each. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 Snowed in here in Richmond, Virginia but will go by and check 'em out. Thanks for the tip. Same here in KY. Last year P-line CXX got down to $3 a box for 6, 8, 17, and 20lb, the 10, 12, and 14lb were $5. Needless to say, I have a stock pile of 8, 10, and 12lb in moss green. I'll have to stop by and check ours out, the fishing section is pretty lacking though :-/ . Quote
Sherlock 60 Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Gander Mountain is having a clearance on Bomber, Strike King, Bandit, Norman, Cotton Cordell and Arbogast cranks, as well as lots of plastics and misc odds and ends. Quote
RyneB Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I was not in the market for a new reel. But i was at the local wal-mart and they had Abu Garcia Revo S's for $70. Bass Pro has them for $129. I ended up buying one, but i plan on going back and getting at least one more. They had them on sale for 3 weeks and i was the first to buy one the guy said, and they have 7 more left. My Bass Pro Shops Extreme cost that much and using them back to back, the Revo is far superior. Quote
tnbassfisher Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Mine didn't have much on clearance when I was in there last week, but at the time I was in there, they were expanding and putting out more fishing items. Quote
Elite Image Fishing Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I always miss sales like this at my local Wally World because I hate going in there. I'm gonna bite the bullet and see what they got since its right across from work (Dick's). Quote
simplejoe Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I'm going to head out in a min. to go to Wally world. Like I posted last week Dick's was having Shaw soft baits .97 a pack. Quote
Big Al23 Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I was at one yesterday. My hands kept grabbing the lures but my pocketbook said NO! Quote
Luke at Gouldsboro Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Gander Mountain has a huge bin of plastics on sale Quote
shootermcbob Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Walmart here had lake fork magic shads in the 3 pack for marked 2.50. I also bought some single packed magic shad for a buck each ...rigged with round ball jig head. After getting home, all three packs of magic shad also rang up a dollar. They also had several norman and mann's crankbaits for 2.00 or 2.50. I got 7 cranks and the magic shads for about 20.00. Quote
RedhookRR Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Ours put everything that they had on clearance back in their regular stock at full price when they filled out their fishing section the other day. Guess since that it is about back in season that the stuff is in demand for full price. Wish that the ones in the state sold real stuff other than just Rapala lures and ugly sticks. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted February 9, 2010 Super User Posted February 9, 2010 Checked the fishing clearance section at my WalMart today. Saw a Bomber Model A that I liked - $4.56 marked down to $3.50 - not a big discount. Got to the register and it rang up at $1.50 - score! Next time you're in your WalMart, you might want to see what's left in clearance... Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Hit one on the way home from class and picked up a couple packs of maribou jigs for $1 each (not a big savings, but I would've bought them anyway), some misc. flies for $.50 a pack, and some Lake Fork Magic Shads for $.75 a pack. They had a ton of stuff on clearance, but the majority of it was stuff I'd never use. They had a bunch of Stanley spinnerbaits for $2 each, but I already have at least 30 brand new spinnerbaits that I picked up during their last clearance blow-out for $1 each or less. Don't really need any more. Quote
The Rooster Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I gave up on Walmart clearance. The had some Daiwa V rods I really liked that were pretty good for the $50 retail they costed. IM-7 graphite with Fuji aluminum oxide guides and reel seats. Planned to get these for my rod choices for a while but money was tight so I didn't get them then. Then one day I go in and they're all gone. I asked about them and was told they were clearanced out for $25 each. Seems I always miss the deals. Quote

I spent eight bucks for the rod. Three bucks for a fuji guide at BPS and called it a day. Not a bad rod either. I use it for frogging and whatnot. Quote
