Zoff Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 OK... here's the post for the food for Lake Anna. $5.00 a head will get burgers/dogs/buns (and all the stuff that goes inside), chips, and sodas. That also covers the fuel (I use charcoal and will bring my grill) to cook them on. Nitrofreak and I will handle the cooking but will be glad to take volunteers. As for the sides... we figured "coverdish". If you want to bring a dish... salad... beans... corn... casserole... pie... cake... (You get the picture, right?)... post here what you will bring so we do not get a bunch of duplicates. I will list who is bringing what. If your family wants to come... we welcome them. I am trying to talk my Wife into shutting down the Salon that day and coming with me. Beer is on you unless you want to assist the cooks. lol I like Guiness, Becks... uh.... sorry.... drooling.... So... who's helping? Bring food? Food... Zoff - Mac & Cheese Nitrofreak - Bread Pudding Traveler 2586 - Chips/Dips Helping... Eddie-NoVa Quote

Glad you brought up the plates, etc. I don't think we thought of them. Quote
Traveler2586 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I'll bring chips and dip; I can't bring anything that requires refrigeration because I'll be camping, so it's chips or whatever dry-goods we need. help me out with some suggestions, i.e. paper plates, cups, paper towels, napkins, what types of chips do you like? Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted September 4, 2012 Super User Posted September 4, 2012 Sam, We would be grateful if you could supply the plates and plastics, thank you very much !!! Traveler, As far as chips and dip, my suggestion would be Doritos and maybe some plain chips with some sort of dip, maybe french onion dip if you do not mind, thank you very much as well !! I will bring an extra cooler to put drinks in too. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted September 4, 2012 Super User Posted September 4, 2012 As for the beer it is up to all of you. I will tell you this much, it's not allowed at the park anywhere, I have had one in my hands before there and have been surprised by the law enforcement, we were not raising hell and I treated him with respect, I think may have been the reason he did not say anything but he had me sweating bullets. Not all officers have the same mentality, they have a job to do, and that job is to enforce the law. I would say you do this at your own risk, and if you do, you had better have control over how much you drink, we will have youngsters there, if you have been drinking, you should step up and exercize a designated driver. I am not trying to sound like an ass about it, but this is supposed to be a fun and safe trip for all, all I ask is that you are able to be aware of your surroundings and be an adult with it. I have said "I" because that is my opinion on the matter. Quote

EDIT AS OF Sept 6.................................................................................... As I can't bring a covered dish or anything cold, I'll bring the dry-goods. I have: napkins paper plates plastic utensils red plastic cups Plastic table cloths a variety of chips a variety of dips (I'll need some heat for the Salsa and Cheese dip) Brownies - I'll have my wifes Brownies, they're to die for... And my boat ( I can take two non boaters ) Edited September 6, 2012 by Traveler2586 Quote

Ok then, if you feel that is fair then all we can do is say thank you very much !!! As for the table cloths, I would say two should be enough unless we get an explosion of people near the meet date then we will regroup and see who is bringing what again. Sam, Just bring the covered dish and not worry about the dry goods then, sounds like Traveler has us taken care of with that, thank you for the offer !!! Quote
Zoff Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 WOW! Won't be many of us but it will be done right. Thanks to all who stepped up. Quote
Traveler2586 Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 WOW! Won't be many of us but it will be done right. Thanks to all who stepped up. Yes, I would have thought there would be more local interest in a M&G at Anna. I made a post in the Northeast forum for the Maryland guys. Quote
Zoff Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 Could it be that the "drawing" for partners turned some people off? If so... I'd just say fish with who you want. If you have someone particular you want to fish with, say so and it is so. I will fish with whoever. No matter what I look to make several new friends that day. Cheers! Quote

Broke bass fisherman Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Sounds like you guys are going to have a blast. Truly wishing I could make it. Have fun guys. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 6, 2012 Super User Posted September 6, 2012 Bring something you can store in a cooler full of ice in your vehicle during the day. It is a cookout so nothing fancy is needed. Don't forget deserts, too. Anything chocolate will be fine with me. If in doubt, hit the grocery store and pick up some prepckaged items like potato salad, chips and salsa, soft drinks, ice for drink cups, a small table to set up the items, etc. In your mind walk through a cookout and what is needed and decide what to bring. The best thing you can bring is a smile and you friendship. (And some good lies about what got away at the boat!!!) Quote
