fishking247 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 fishking247, that is exactly what I did. Went back to mono. Did the line dressing and spraying it but too much drama with it. Have tied a FC leader to my dropshot though. We'll see how that works. old school works best! i have never used a leader with my mono. i used to use one with braid but don't even do that anymore. if mono is spooled correctly you should have no problems with it. at the end of the trip put a heavy lure on, cast it out far and retrieve back slow and steady so the line goes tight back on the spool. NMarotta28 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Are u saying u put three foot of braid then the rest with flouro? Or braid with a flouro leader? If the first I have never heard of that, why would it solve the problem? I use about 5 foot of braid on the bottom of the reel, then the rest fluoro. I am not sure why it works.. but once I did this i never had any problems. Maybe because the fluoro carbon doesnt get to tight around the bottom of the spool and cause problems while you cast? I really don't have that answer but after I put braid on the bottom of the spool i never had any backlashes. Quote

Super User Hooligan Posted September 4, 2012 Super User Posted September 4, 2012 Yea true it is but it seems like a lot of people, well friends of mine are switching from seaguar to other fluoros because of inconsistencies. Sunline is amazing stuff. I've straightened med. Wire hooks with 14# sniper, it was crazy. Toray fluoro is absolutely amazing. I have nothing but great things to say about both sunline and toray. Toray is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Seaguar is the most consistent fluorocarbon on the US market right now. It's the second most on the international market, and the most is from the Parent company Kureha under a different name. Their line is accurate to nearly 1-millionth an inch. There's no one else in the industry that is approaching that, particularly not sunline. All of the testing I've seen, and been part of, actually shows that sunline is inconsistent in most diameters, ranging from .00039 to as much as .00099. The second thing is that Seaguar is the ONLY company that manufactures its lines from start to finish. They produce their own resin, extrude it, finish it, wind it, and package it. NOT ONE other company in the industry does that. Also, for the record, they don't sell their resin, or produce line for any other line company, and have only one private label. Thirdly, if you think that Toray isn't guilty of inconsistency, why do you think that Bass Pro XPS fluoro was unavailable for the ENTIRE summer? 1 Quote
msolorio Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 That's cool but I base my opinions on experience with products. I'll never knock a product ever but ill give my honest opinion of one after I've used it for a bit. With seaguar, it was nothin' but problems. Three different spools, same problems. I gave it a chance and came to the conclusion that it was junk to me. That's my opinion. Sunline and toray have never once given me problems. Its lasted and lasted with not one break off or anything. I'll never waste money on seaguar again so more for you to use. From my understanding, seaguar extrudes cabelas fluoro, toray extrudes bps. I'll stick with what's been proven to me time and time again. Quote
msolorio Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 What it all comes down to in the end is preference. That's what bass fishing is, preference. The fish dont care what line, rod, reel, hook, or sinker you use. I'm sorry if my response sounded condesending in any way. By inconsistent I meant performance inconsistency. 1 Quote
