Me and my brother went out on the lake today we have fished a TON since March and have never gone without a fish....We started fishing al the spots and nothing no fish we are thinking here we go this is the day we strike out....we stopped to fish one island on the way in as a last ditch effort it is now almost dark....my brother gets a little one so we get our fish....ok good...then he gets another...then I get a decent one.....then it happens...I have got 10.5 ..and a number of 6 to 8 fish out of this lake never broken off......I"m using a 7 foot heavy crank bait rod with 14 pound test...I throw a strike king KVD off a point and I think I'm hooked on a rock...then it moves when I crank and I think it is a big log...then as I figure out it is a fish it comes jumping out of the water....it dives back down and it will not move feels like a big catfish but we saw it....I take the boat towards him and he keeps diving down and then SNAP...the line comes flying out of the water...I said...oh darn....the biggest fish I have ever had on in here by far....but it hurts...after that my brother does get a good one about 4....all this happens in about 15 to 20 min.....

I feel your pain. Biggest bass I ever hooked (at least I think it is) was about 6" away from my 7 year old's outstretched arm holding the net when it tail danced and spit the hook back at us and laughed all the way back to the depths.

The mouth was the biggest bucket mouth I'd ever seen and to have it that close and lose it was painful. Mouth was so big we coulda gone spelunking, LOL. But hey, it is what it is. We got to see a huge bass and that was cool. Yeah, much cooler if we landed it.

I can only guess that it was between 8.5 and 10 pounds. My PB is a 7.5, and this was significantly bigger.

that would hurt i didn't get this fish that close I was cating pretty far out off a point on this island when I got him. I think he was 11 to 13 pounds in that range based on what we have got this year. My brother lost a bass in the 8 pound range 2 weeks in a row same bait same tree fish jumped both times and spit it out...the only thing ot make you feel better is to get a big one in the boat...I want to go back out this evening but also want to watch a few football games so we will see.
