I was just wondering what was a good type of line that i should put on my Quantum Kinetic. I'm looking to use a flourocarbon. Which brand has the best knot strength, least memory and best performance. thanks.

What application will the line be used for?

If you do a search there is a ton or recommendations for fluorocarbon lines. Bass Pro XPS and Seaguar Abrazix and Invizx are my favorites.

No matter what you get it will have memory so make sure to use some line conditioner on it.

Ditto rockchalk. Application has everything to do with what line to choose. Fluoro will be good for a lot of applications, but again, it depends on what and where you're throwing. Just make sure you pay attention to what knots you're tying if you use fluoro because some can greatly compromise the knot strength. If you're looking for something all around, I use 12# Yo Zuri.

Read around the forum a little.. yozuri hybrid is the highest recommended line here. Its cheap too.

I'm confused about this stuff. Is it really a fluorocarbon line or is it a mix between mono and fluoro? I'm assuming that's the case hence the word "hybrid", but I haven't read anything in depth regarding water absorption or stiffness.

It's a fluoro coated nylon.

So is it pretty soft? Been pretty disappointed in the fluoro I've been trying out.

I've no idea personally, but I've yet to see a single negative review. The ultra soft is reportedly extremely manageable even without kvd. Plus, it has a tensile strength much greater than it is rated. 12# has something like 19# break point.

it's not a "true" fluorocarbon. it's a copoly/hybrid.

if you are looking for all 3 of the characteristics you mentioned bundled together in one line then you will be paying a nice price tag for it. Fluorocarbon is definitely a line you get what you pay for. (I've never used BPS fluoro so I can't comment on that but i think it's inexpensive and works)Tatsu is probably the "best" fluorocarbon but isn't needed at all. it does fish like a dream but cheaper fluorocarbons suffice. finding an inexpensive fluorocarbon that has great knot strength, low memory and great performance will be a little tough but it depends on your price range. i've use tatsu but only because I won a spool of it and if it weren't for the 40-50$ price tag it'd use it all the time. Seaguar InvizX is a very nice line but has a lot more stretch than I prefer. Red Label has much less stretch and manages very easily. It isn't very abrasion resistant though. Knot stretch is something that more times than not is user error. Sunlines fluorocarbons are my favorite and the price tag isn't the worst. There are some extremely awful lines out there but for the most part as long as you stay away from Vanish and strens fluorocast or w/e it is called you should be fine. If you are new to fluorocarbon then please make sure to buy either Reel Magic or KVD line and lure and spray it on while spooling and before you go fishing and occasionally during the day depending on the line. you will save your self a lot of headaches. If you are using one rod/reel then get some yo-zuri hybrid.

When you guys say to spray it on while spooling, how often while spooling? Every few wraps/handle cranks?

After I attach the fluoro to the backing i usually crank in some line, spray, let it fill up about an 1/8 or an inch or so, spray a little more, repeat. If you sprayed every few handle cranks you would probably be out of conditioner after one reel. It isn't critical to do it while spooling but it's something I'm just accustomed to doing. If you don't do it while spooling, just go somewhere and make a super long cast, let the line out a little, spray it down and reel in and spray when it gets back to you and you should be set.

I always spray some KVD on the whole spool and let it dry for a day or two, then douse it once more as it's going on my reel. I might have to order some of the Yo Zuri Ultra Soft. I like the Trilene XL I use, but after an hour of fishing it's saturated with water and swells up too much.

I spray the main spool when it get. I mean very liberally. It may drip off but I soak it big time.

When I spool up, I run about 20 feet of line and spray 2-3 squirts on the spool. I do this until I'm done.

I spray each reel down the night before I hit the water and afterwards when I get home. Seems to be working pretty good so far.
