EvanT123 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Im looking to refine my trig senko fluke set up I have two basic question brand name and price aside. Reels - would a 6.4-1 or 7.1.1-1 be better? Rods - looking at 6-6 to 7 med hev would a fast or ex-fast tip be better? Thanks for the input. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Reel: 7.1:1 (you want to be able to pick up line quickly if the fish is running towards you) Rod: 7' M/F or MH/F (7' gives you more line pickup on the hookset and a Fast action gives you a fast enough tip to drive home a hook, but enough give to not rip it out of thier mouth) Quote
EvanT123 Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Thanks for the info I was looking at shorter than 7 bc I fish from the shore in tight places and a small boat. I found a Powell endurance online for a 100 bucks but it has an xterm fast tip. Think I could get away with it? Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 No doubt. Powell makes a great stick and xfast would work just fine. Go for it! Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted August 29, 2012 Super User Posted August 29, 2012 x2 on the Powell. You will not be disappointed, I use both the 6'7" Endurance MH/XF, and a 6'8" M/XF for the purposes you listed. The 6'7" gets weighted t-rigs, senkos, while the 6'8" is my dedicated Fluke rod. 1 Quote
