Weapon X Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Anyone here ever use them? I saw some online and thought about buying some , the action looks great and they look durable enough that you can at least catch 3-4 fish without having to change . Thanks for the insight. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted August 26, 2012 Super User Posted August 26, 2012 Great bait, get some and experiment, very versatile. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 26, 2012 Super User Posted August 26, 2012 For many on the Rage Tail Posse, the Space Monkey is their favorite bait! Two weeks ago I witnessed another BR member land a 6-14 on a Space Monkey. Quote
NoBassPro Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 They've got good action and enough bulk they can be cast easily even without weight, comes in handy when you're looking for things to swim over shallow weeds amongst other things Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 26, 2012 Super User Posted August 26, 2012 Great lure, especially for pitchin' to targets and fishing vegetation. A 4/0 EWG and a parasite weight are all you need. Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Great lure, especially for pitchin' to targets and fishing vegetation. A 4/0 EWG and a parasite weight are all you need. That's how I use em too. My favorite bait for pitching to holes in vegetation or to docks and laydowns. Quote
TNBassin' Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 If you like the space monkeys, try the rage tail smokin roosters. Awesome action. Quote
Big-O Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I too, am an advocate of the Space Monkey... and not because it's RT, but because IMO it's the most versatile soft plastic bait made. It can be fished with good success weighted, weightless, on top, on bottom, as a swim bait, pitched/flipped, T rig/C rig/Rage Rig, and as a jig trailer. It's action is unmatched by any other product and every single one is perfect right out of the hard Clamshell it's packaged in... Can you tell I like it and If you get a chance to try it, I hope you do as well Quote
Silas Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I fished the Space Monkey today, right before a cold front, on a 1/8 oz Moaner keel weighted hook. I caught 6 nice bass.....they wouldn't touch anything else. A young guy was passing by on the river when he saw me fighting a fish and stopped to watch. After boating the bass, I struck up a conversation with him.....he hadn't caught a thing. I told him they were biting on a Space Monkey. He looked at me strangely, so I rigged him up one with the Moaner hook and gave it to him. I think I made a friend, for sure. Off he went to try his new bait! I was getting bit by casting a foot into the lilies, and just as I dragged it into open water, I SAW them come up and dive for it! I missed 2 because I was so excited I set the hook before they had it! It slides off the lily pads well and only ocassionally hesitates as I hit the V where the stem is.....but if I let it slip back down and pull up again, it slides off. Great bait! Quote
RyneB Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 i am a fan of the space monkey as well. I use it more as a swimming type bait. I like to put it on a keel weighted hook and swim it around vegetation. I do the same thing with the smokin rooster. I have also had good success using the monkey as a topwater bait. I rig it with a 5/0 EWG hook and swim it across the top like you would a buzzbait. Some of my best fish have come when i kill it. Ill swim it across the vegetation and then when i get to a open pocket i will kill it and let it slowly flutter down. Drives them crazy. 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 27, 2012 Super User Posted October 27, 2012 Count me in as another fan, Space Monkey = deadly. Quote
Goose21 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 My favorite in the ragetail line along with the rage craw as a jig trailer. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 27, 2012 Super User Posted October 27, 2012 Good for pretty much anything. It's about as versatile a bait as it gets. I can't even begin to imagine how many fish I've caught on a Space Monkey. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted October 28, 2012 Super User Posted October 28, 2012 If I'm fishing with plastic I'm fishing with Rage Tail. 1 Quote
Big-O Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Here's the latest color chart... bps and tw online do a good job of keeping them in stock. There's plenty of info on our website for rigging etc @ www.ragetail.com Hope you like'em! Quote
TNBassin' Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 If I'm fishing with plastic I'm fishing with Rage Tail. I used to use Grandebass, Zoom, and Yum products until I tried Rage Tail plastics. They are high quality and have better action than anything I've ever used. The only RT bait I have that has yet to produce for me is the Smokin Rooster. I just can't get the bass to nail this thing.
