Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 26, 2012 Super User Posted August 26, 2012 Hurricanes suk, but they sure bring in the fish. No, I'm not wishing for hurricane, just trying to think of something positive. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 26, 2012 Super User Posted August 26, 2012 We are going to dodge this bullet, but I'm still concerned about a power outage. Yesterday morning is was pretty windy by the ocean (storms all night), I had 6 tarpon strikes and 2 snook, sad to report none took the hook. They were very active and hitting glass minnows, I may stop and buy some DOA shrimp this morning with a split shot and give that a try. The bass were getting a bit active in my pond too. Quote

Tell us how the trip went! Doug, I am dying to get to the PITS, maybe this week. Quote
Helluva_Engineer Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Too much wind and waves, it's keeping me off the water, off the beach, and out of the river. No good. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted August 27, 2012 Tell us how the trip went! Doug, I am dying to get to the PITS, maybe this week. The weather pretty much has me off the water yesterday and today (Sunday). I wanted to fish Lake Clarke and PB canal tomorrow, but that might get squashed too if the wind doesn't die down. I can handle some rain and 10-15 mph wind. It's the 30-50 gusts that suck. Quote

I noticed you're out of Jenson Beach. I've been getting the itch to head up and fish the river/power plant. What's been bad about it lately? How has the trout and snook action been? Thanks Quote

What's been bad about it lately? How has the trout and snook action been? Thanks To be honest, I've been focused on trying to get a tarpon here lately and have been getting jumped off (or no bites if I use a larger hook). Snook haven't appeared to be as thick as they were in July, but I have seen some monsters that wouldn't take my lures. The glass minnows were real thick in the surf up near the power plant (my backyard) until this past week. I haven't fished the river in at least a month as a result. My work hours don't help, so if the tide/time of day isn't right...I just snorkel the reef. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 27, 2012 Super User Posted August 27, 2012 I went to the inlet Monday morning and the gate to the park was locked for the first time. I fished in the ICW, but no action. Quote
