Nashua Nev Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I am in Southern NH, Nashua and travel to Concord on a regular basis. I am looking for someone to help teach me to fish plastic worms, craws, lizards better and also to fish jigs and drop shot. I have watched tons of video and just feel like i am not getting the hang of it. I am not getting fish using them on a regular basis. Most of the bass i have been catching have been on my flatfish crank bait, a zara spook or a frog/mouse on top of heavy weeds and pads. I have caught a few on ragetail craws keel weighted and weightless. I have my 12 ft jon boat with 5 hp and troller or my canoe with trolling motor. I can fish almost any morning and will gladly get up before the sun but need to be to work by 9ish mon-sat in Nashua. Sundays i have till about 10 am. I have 4 regular fishing buddies who either use mainly topwater, swear by their spinners or dont fish plastics at all. Quote
Super User Marty Posted August 25, 2012 Super User Posted August 25, 2012 Read all you can--books, magazines, Internet articles and message boards. Visit places where other anglers congregate and watch and talk. And just fish those lures based on what you've read and you should be much more proficient even if you can't find a teacher. Good luck. The one that got away Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I would just keep throwing 'em until you feel more comfortable, and you'll start to get more fish. Especially the soft plastics in and around weeds. Like Marty said, just keep trying to learn. Quote
WinniMurph Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Just keep chuckin. Experiment with different colors, lengths of line under the hook, weight of the jig heads, fish it slow then fish it fast. Every body of water is different and the fish will react different to every bait in a different situation. Also start smaller with your bait. For example maybe throw a 4 inch senko instead of 5 to pick up some smaller fish to get your confidence up. Fishing is all about confidence. If you get really light line and an ultra light spinning road, then you can't go wrong single hooking any soft plastic. As I was always told, the less "jewelry" the better, and that seems to work for me unless you need the weight. Good luck and tight lines. Quote
pro/angler Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 just keep experimenting with different baits but you need to pick out one bait that you like and keep fishing with it all the time tell you get confidence and then get one moor bait and fish with tell you have confidence and keep fishing tell you get it down good luck and a tight lines proabssangler Quote
