kyron4 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Has anyone tried useing a #4 red treble hook a trailer on a small buzz bait. It fits right on the main hook of a 1/8 or 1/4 oz. buzz bait. Will it increase hook ups more than without ? Same as regular trailer ? -Thanks Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I saw Gary Dobyns use a treble on his buzzbait at Shasta about 7 years ago or so on an FLW segment. It worked for him in open water where spotted bass were slashing his buzzer. Let me/us know how it works. Quote
Revo_Carrot Stix Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Interesting. In 2009, I caught 94 Bass on buzzbaits and 31 were on 3/0 trailer hook. I can only remember a handful of misses that I couldn't get to strike again - and wonder if a treble would have helped?!? I hammer the banks, laydowns, and vegetation with buzzbaits with little to no hangups, so I'd be concerned about a treble hook. That's a great idea in open water tho!! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 9, 2010 Super User Posted February 9, 2010 Actually, a better idea is to put it behind the buzzer. Red, nickel, silver....doesn't really matter. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 9, 2010 Super User Posted February 9, 2010 I use a treble trailer hook on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits in smallmouth waters. It has increased my hook-up ratio a lot. Quote
