Be glad it' only rain that keeps you on the couch. Aug 7th I had major lumbar spinal surgery to repair my shattered L5 vertibrea and fuse it to the S1 to stop further spinal nerve damage. I will be couch fishing for several months and driving everyone nuts.

The monsoon season will pass soon, your lakes haven't had any fishing pressure and must need the water, be greatful. Post some pics to remind me what a bass looks like when you get on them.

GOD I hope it's raining down there!!! All I've heard over the last few months is how dry S Texas and Northern Mexico is! Heard that the lakes are 40 plus ft low and so are our North Central Tx waters... Good to hear your still around though... was wondering where you've been :)

Im up here in Maine on Unity pond, fished a bit last night, and this morning. Had a buch of tail slaps, and a few bring the frog under, but no hookups. The water is very algae mixed, green pea color. Was not prepared for this, good thing I brought my black frogs. I miss my FL fishing, but I will make do for the next 3 days.

Send that rain up through Texas.

I am a couch fisherman, but not by choice. Can't find a job.

Who would of guessed that 7 years in the Army as a Scout, and a College degree in criminal justice would equate to unemployed?

Don't hesitate to net work veterans, your local congressman, representative and write to George and Luara Bush and express what career field you are interested in perusing. LMCO in Fort Worth and L3 are a possibility, the Texas Fish & Game or whatever it's called and boarder patrol could be a potential career fields. You are are healthy, educated and have a desire to work and we all owe you a chance to establish a new career.

Good luck and and I sincerely hope you find work soon!

It seems to be a trend, by being a college graduate now makes you overqualified for what´s available.

The other day a freshly graduate gal out of vet school visited me, I knew where the conversation was going to end, she finally asked me for a job, I have a couple of gals working for me and my partner for several years now, they are not vets, heck, not even vet assistants, but they worked for other vets before working for us, of course they are not allowed to do any chores related to treatment of the patients,, they groom dogs, do the cleaning, sell food n´ stuff, can I hire this freshly graduate girl ? probably yes, problem is that I can´t pay her the kind of salary as she most probably aspires too, so this is what I told her: " honey, we could hire you but we can´t pay you a salary, what we can do is give you a 30% comission on what you do ( surgeries, procedures, hospitalization and consultations ), and a percentage on the profit of what you sell ( like food, medications, vaccinations ), then you´ll also have to help the girls when the time comes, if there´s a bunch of dogs to groom you´ll have to groom dogs ( cuz we, the doctors, also do it when we have to ), you´ll also have to clean cages ( we, the doctors, also do it ), if there´s dogs to be walked you´ll also have to do it. So, I´m not going to lie, there will be weeks you´ll walk out of the clinic with a few thousand pesos in your pocket and there will be weeks you´ll walk out with a few hundres ( it applies the same to us and we friggin´ own the place ! ) . That´s what we can offer you "

She replied she will think it over and comes few days later with the answer ........... it´s been 4 months and I´m still waiting for her to return, I really don´t get it, what was she looking for ? most probably a weekly secure salary than working and most importantly ( IMHO ), the golden opportunty to learn and practice with two vets with a lot of experience and earning some bucks while continuing your education, because think about it, freshly graduated from vet school doesn´t make you a real vet.

This year di not strat off very good for me, although some new swim baits like little clippers 8" Trash Fish and 2 new smaller Garbage minnows have promise. I received the new swimmers nd experimented rigging with a modified butch Brown head treble hook rig using a short a wire on. Owner CPS nose insert inserted spring, super glued in place and duded a 3/32 oz nail weight under the he'd mounted sie 1 treble so the lure was balanced and swm properly. Never got a chance to fish this rig, my legs became very weak, unable to hook up the boat!

I have a condition called spodylolothesis were my L5 vertibrea is bone to bone to the til bone (S1) and the vertibrea is broken in half from an old gymnastic injury that self fused. Apparently the vertibrea broke loose and started to crush the spinal cord/nerves and surgery became a high priority. We have one of the best spinal surgeons at Cedars Sinani, Dr Dlemarter, and I was lucky that he was available. My fear was being able to walk, let alone fish again. It's been 3 weeks and I can walk unassisted; no walker, no cane and very little pain.

6 months should put me into my favorite pre spawn period and be in better physical condition then before all this started.

Also discovered ALX rods, Alex made up 3 custom jig rods for me on blanks equal to Loomis NRX series, and if you need a good jig rod contact Alex, his custom rods are about $220 delivered ith a life time warranty. I did get a chance to fish with the new rods they are very well made, the guides micro are placed for maximum casting distance and I believe superior to the NRX rods for less than 1/2 the price.

The wether should be settling down with the monsoon season tapering off, so get out and catch a few for me!

Tom

PS; thought this was. PM to Raul, didn't relealize it was posted in the thread, apologize if the ALX reference was not for a site sponsor and details about my recent surgery wasn't met to detract from the weather topic.

im from Chihuahua Mexico, and we have been having some rain lately... in fact, the first 5 days of of July we got more rain than all 2012 rain convined... generally, rainy season is only July, but now it extended up to August, with some hard rains some days.... the weather has been changing really weird, one day you can have literally a thunderstorm, and you will wake up to a bluebird sky, and 3 days later, another storm... lakes are regaining their level, but they are still waaaay low, maybe 15-20 feet below.... since rain is getting more sporadic, we get to fish more this days than last month...
