theADOLESCENT Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Hey guys. I haven't gone fishing in about 6 years but I am going these next 2 weekends, and probably more after. I looked around my house for some rods/reels and this is what I came up with. I found a 6' HT Micromaster Super Ultralight but looks like part of the rod is missing and it's only 5'. It has a HT Masterpiece 1750G Ultra Light reel on it. I found a Stamina XL 4155 reel and put it on the Shakespeare rod that I have, the rod is probably about 7', definitely feels a lot more study than the microcaster. What sort of line should I buy for these? Is there a way I can buy one line and put it on both? I know the microcaster had a lower weight capacity. Is it safe to say I could use the Micromaster rod for Bluegill and the shakespeare rod for fishing Bass? I'm not really looking to buy anything else so I'm just wondering if these setups are decent, I don't need anything exceptional but I do want it to work. I'm sure my pops will have some setups, I'd just like to have some set up when I meet him. Thanks, Kent Quote MultiQuote Delete Quote
EvanT123 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I've been fishing seriously for about 6 years. 3 years ago I got a decent spinning setup and this year a baitcaster. Point in you don't need great gear to catch fish especially if you don't fish a lot. There's a ton of great info on here about products and techniques if you want to get into it more but if not get some 8 lb mono for the larger setup for bass and some 4 or 6 for bluegill. Get some night crawlers and have some fun this weekend! Quote
cast_and_destroy Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Those setups sound fine. I would recommend 4# test for the microcaster and 12# mono for the shakespeare. Quote
